Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
I saw a report on this site recently that said unemployment rates were dropping in Alabama since this new law went in to effect..Are you from Alabama? If now, maybe someone from Alabama can give a better report on the situation there.
Yes folks are losing the point in their eagerness to go after Cain. Syrian oil production is relatively insignificant in the context of global production but remains a significant element of it’s economy.
I couldn't follow this thread because I was watching CNN.com. I had to step away a few times, so I did miss some things. I don't know if Newt has lost the campaign, but he has lost me. I was cheering for him earlier, but this is a deal breaker for me.
Liar.
Are you seriously contending we are capable of enforcing a no-fly zone over all of Syria?
Weird things happening or not, that has nothing to do with our strategic interests. The logistics are absurd, and the result is negligible. Perry wants to start a no fly zone today and for how long?
The whole idea is absurd. It is waste of human and military resources.Unless we are prpeared to take on ANY and ALL challenges, which we know this President will not, every American plane will become a target for the jihadis to shoot down.
Moslems respect only one thing—overwhelming force that hits them between the eyes. Until we are ready to do just that, the rest is useless speculation.
CAIN SAID TO SEAL THE BORDER FIRST, THEN ENFORCE THE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS AND IF YOU DO THERE WILL BE NO NEED TO DEPORT ANYONE!
And he's right!
Let me get this right. Illegals broke U.S. law to get here. Since they didn’t get caught and booted out for the last 20 years..they and their families get to stay...period. Now if that’s not amnesty..what the heck is it?
If I robbed a bank 20 years ago, and I didn’t get caught, and I built my house and minded my own business, held a job and went to church..I don’t have to go to jail if I get caught.
Of those families..how many gangbangers is each family allowed in order to still be considered good families? Just sayin’
Newt is the only one who sees the illegal situation as it is and not what we want it to be....it’s too dang late and there are too many of them to deport without a massive uprising of 30 million of them...and you can bet money they would do just that. Politicians will not risk that outcry...rather they will sift thru the rank and files and deport the undesirables and that’s the best we can hope for...otherwise securing the border is the only thing left to stop it.
Bottom line...it’s too late to deport them all...they have the numbers to fight it and will.
Thank you!! That is the most effective and reasonable solution of all: leave it to the states, don't fight their efforts, and illegals will leave on their own.

I feel so dirty too. I know I should bow down and kiss the feet of those intellectual giants in the media. I just can’t. Can I ever forgive myself?
Notice nobody is mentioning Perry’s call for Panetta to resign, if Panetta was an honest man.
That’s probably too jugular for Cain or Newt supporters to cope with. Just not ‘decent’.
I don’t care how long those who came here illegally have been here they are still illegals and NOT citizens!
Newt blew it BIG TIME!
Yep, he’s talking amnesty. And even if he’s not talking about amnesty for every last illegal here, he’s got a strange criterion for it: if you’re new to stealing from this country then you don’t get it, but if you’ve been stealing for years and years or decades, then it’s certainly for you.
Good Lord, they’re having another one.
Seriously, this is a Democrat plot to make us all sick of the GOP field by the time the primaries actually get here.
Who ever thought of weekly debates should be shot!! Too much exposure!!
Just tuned in at the last and interview with Newt...basically saying in his round about way... he would grant amnesty to the illegals here in this country. Sorry... no go for me.
He may be a policy wonk...but he just shot himself in the foot ala Perry, on illegals.
I think LEGAL, God fearin’ hispanics would vote for a republican.
lol
