There's no doubt the Newt Gingrich surge is real, and it's apparently spreading to South Carolina - with new private polling showing the former House Speaker leading Mitt Romney and Herman Cain, another southerner, by a 2-to-1 margin. Continue Reading
The numbers from Kellyanne Conway's Polling Company show Gingrich getting 31 percent, while Cain gets 17 percent and Romney gets 16 percent. No other hopeful cracked double digits (Rick Perry was the closest, with 6 percent).
In the second-choice balloting there, Gingrich did best, 22 percent to Cain's 18 percent, and Romney's 16 percent. Perry is in fourth place, at 12 percent, among "second choices."
In New Hampshire, the situation is flipped - Romney getes 35 percent, with 20 percent of that support a hard "yes."
Gingrich places second there, with 18 percent, and Ron Paul is in third place at 10 percent. Huntsman is at 9 percent, Cain 8 percent, Perry and Michele Bachmann both get 4 percent, and Rick Santorum gets 2 percent.
In second-place balloting in New Hampshire, Gingrich and Romney are essentially tied - 22 percent for the former House Speaker and 21 percent for the former neighbor-state governor. No other candidate broke 10 percent on the second-choice question.

I'm saying since Newt supported the same individual mandate, there's no gain for choosing Newt over Romney on that score.
I took it to mean that Newt is the second choice for most Cain and Romney supporters.
That’s ridiculous. Did Romney bring a GOP majority to Congress, or balance the budget for 4 years?
I am OK with Newt. Still mostly leaning Cain but with Newt rising, so to speak.
I agree about Romney. I’ll never vote for him. He governed as a leftist.
I disagree about Gingrich. I will vote for him. He governed as a conservative.
It’s that simple. Gingrich has all the conservative positions, and when in power, he governed according to those conservative positions.
He will get my vote over Obama.
Romney will not because he is simply more of Obama.
I don’t buy this poll. Does KEllyAnn believe Newt is really up that much in SC? It is out of touch with other polling done in SC. Neither Cain nor Romney ever had that type of lead when they were “surging”. I just don’t buy this poll unless others come out to vindicate it.
To her credit, she does try to stay independent, though.
If her polling says Romney is down bad in SC, the state to decide every GOP nominee, it is VERY bad news for Mitt. The worst news for him is that even SHE shows Mitt faltering badly in NH.

That was a long time ago. Newt is NOT what he was 15 years ago. He has turned into a political chameleon who has sold out the conservatives of the party time and time again in recent memory.
For crying out loud read up on the man. The evidence is everywhere...The NY state election, The ad with Pelosi, his support for single payer mandate with healthcare and his own book on environmentalism and his support for the left wing causes on global warming!

Fine....and the best way to start is to listen to what Newt Gingrich says instead of relying on what the media says Newt Gingrich says.

He was a “speaker”.
God help us if we choose Newt and there are some Brett Favre or Weiner-style text messages revealed next year. You just never know with the Republican Bill Clinton.
Yes, they are the stupid party. They are doing their best to force their establishment or overly moderate choices as the only ones “who can win”.
I’ve already seen Newt in power once. That was enough for me. Your mileage may vary.
The only reason you got to see Newt in power is because he orchestrated the 1994 Republican Revolution.
The Speaker of the House is in control of the House. The Constitution says “The Speaker and other officers.” Therefore, the Speaker is the LEAD Officer of the House.
And officers OFFICIALLY lead. In the case of the Speaker, he is the presiding officer.

The Speaker selects nine of the thirteen members of the powerful Committee on Rules, subject to the approval of the conference of the majority party. So, yes. Speakers govern the House of Representatives, a terribly difficult job of leading powerful independent men and women. Like herding cats.
Now that is downright funny ... you think that Newt is as susceptible as Mittens when it comes to Obamacare ...
Mittens gets his head handed to him on a platter on Obamacare with NO way out, and Obama can cite him as the inspiration for it.
Newt gets a single question, which can easily be handled (we looked at it as an option in the 90’s when we were forced to try to address HillaryCare, it did not pass muster ... )
The 2 are not in the same league.
