The Broken President
Townhall.com ^ | November 22, 2011 | John Ransom

Posted on 11/22/2011 7:05:46 AM PST by Kaslin

Being president was always easy for Barack Obama.

That is, it was easy up until the time he actually was elected president. Then things got a little tougher.

In part, Obama’s troubles stem from the rigidity of his broken ideas. They admit of no compromise. Consequently, he has subsumed his whole personality into an unworkable ideology that was dead outside of academia- and news rooms- until he resurrected it.

It’s the idea that a benign government of technocrats and academics can engineer near perfect justice at the trivial cost of liberty to most.

His life and presidency can only be understood by recognizing this Obama idée fixe goes beyond merely his ideology and merges into that of his personality. Because only when one realizes that he personally identifies with his ideology in the same way that he identifies himself as a father or husband, can one finally understand how tightly he clings to it.

It’s an ideology that he clings to, like some do guns and religion, despite a century of abject failure when implemented- as his own disastrous record as president shows on a fairly small scale.

Unlike guns and religion, however, which both have long records of reliability, his ideology depends upon the unreliable magic trick of redefining of words to mean the opposite of what any plain speaking person in the USA would understand them to mean.

For example, if you redefine liberty to mean that most everyone outside of the ruling elite has the same amount of “things,” then Obama’s materialist ideology ensures “some liberty for most.” Therefore, it is only when you have a static majority, a majority that can neither rise nor fall, that “good, kind-hearted, fat, benevolent people,” as Twain describes them, can assure honest poverty for the rest of us.

In that case, why wouldn’t good, kind-hearted, fat Warren Buffett pay a tax to ensure he and his fellows maintain an ascendancy that can’t be compromised by the majority? Why wouldn’t donor good, kind-hearted, fat George Kaiser go knocking on the door of the White House for a subsidized loan for his failing private venture?  The first rule of capital is to preserve it in the same way that politicians first preserve power.

And thus, in Obama’s world, everyone is happy.

It was so much easier for Obama to be president when all he had to do was come up with sunshine words and rosy promises, as opposed to, say, executing unworkable legislation, controlling a suspicious congress, creating policy that gave to the rich in order to secure “some liberty for most;” or following a budget that isn’t even written down on a napkin.

Talk is cheap- as is writing- but when you claim the mantle of leadership you actually have to do something. And in doing something Obama has revealed to Americans the underside, unspoken ideology that belongs to the spirit of the Bastille, rather than that of the Boston Tea Party.

It’s the spirit that talks about immigration reform, but ignores immigration law -or not- depending on how the spirits move him. It’s the spirit that plays the part of constitutional law professor, while ignoring the duty to defend the constitution. It’s the spirit that tells banks to lend money to poor people, but punishes banks through extra-legal means- because they loaned money to poor people.

And those spirits create misgivings in most Americans; and those misgivings are strongly confirmed by the economic failures they have engendered.

When you measure those failures against the expectations that the liberal left pinned on Obama via speeches and skin color, and subtract out the deepening number of Americans who think the country is on the wrong track, we can quantify how cheapened the presidency has become.  All you have to do is subtract the Obama expectations from the Obama result.

What you are left with is a remainder that confirms that this president is broken.

How broken?

Utterly, 100 percent, non-fixable broken.

It is interesting to note that the essential defect of this president was pegged by Sarah Palin early on.

“But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform,” said Palin at the 2008 Republican convention while she was accepting the spot as vice president on the McCain ticket.

Obama still hasn’t authored anything much but speeches; speeches which contain nothing new; “not one” new idea, say his friends.

Even his signature healthcare bill wasn’t his own creation but rather a compilation of ideas from lobbyists and Senators.

Because if Obama authored legislation, on say, immigration, or the debt ceiling or his own version of healthcare- if he told us what he really thought of the Main Street American bank or those who truly occupy Main Street - Americans would understand how bankrupt the man is.

All you have to do is subtract his words from our reality to see the result: broken.

Obama was like that person most of us have met, that interviews really well for jobs way over their head and then gets fired for incompetence.

That statement frightens me, because it’s pretty much a description of RINOmney also.

to us he is but the sad part is that his numbers are in the 404 tile and that is due to the media covering for him ALL THE FRIGGING TIME.

How can congress be so low but the man in charge of the white house have his numbers much higher unless the people are either so stupid which many are or the media tells the public every day it is congress but leaves out their messiah.

Yeah. I’ve said it’s easier to get elected than get hired nowadays. It’s such an emotional thing. Look at Cain. He has a track record of success in many arenas. But people like the scandal stuff. And people talk about “looking presidential”, but I don’t think those shots of Obama bowing make him look presidential.

Dang. I’m rambling again. Must be the drugs.

Wait’ll next year. Things will be much, much worse than they are now. The press is already overheating the warp engines to support him. They will fry the dilythium crystals by early spring. Then the whole thing will be dead in the water, for the internet blogs to come in and pick at the bones.

The truth stands easily on its own. Lies are like trying to break the speed of light. Increasing speed has an exponential effect on cost. There is not enough money in the universe to keep the obama ship moving forward. It is ten times more true today than last year, and it will be a hundred times truer next year than it is today.

It is already happening.

The article is spot on as you say...the problem will be transferring that notion to an electorate that is basically brain dead or worse the opposition not having a credible candidate as an alternative choice.

The guy is a joke, no kidding, but so is the clown in front of MacDonalds yet people go there every day nonetheless.

‘Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall:

All the King’s horses and all the King’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty in his place again.’

Maybe that broken I hope. Substitute MSM for kings horses and Senate Dems for Kings men and the Lewis Carroll piece has some pertainance to this subject.

Excellent article. People who know the truth and have the courage to tell the truth must come forward to save this nation. Tom Coburn needs to admit that his failure to vet Obama, and the promoting of SR 511 made it possible for Obama to be nominated. Hillary could do that too, but she loves her party too much.

The Peter Principle. One who keeps moving up the ladder to a new job or position quickly so no one sees how lousy he is doing his latest job. Really, he needs to say he is not running for President and go to the next tier, President of the UN and then onto President of the World!!!!

” - - - the problem will be transferring that notion to an electorate - - - “

I agree. Choosing a political leader is basically a primal, tribal emotion. Consider your favorite football team: “ WE are number 1 !” is an emotional tribal chant that comes to mind. The basis for that is self defense, rooted in the group defense concept of “my tribe is stronger than your tribe.”

In our politics it is winner take all. Thus, just 3 elected leaders, ( President, Speaker of the House, and Senate Majority Leader), when from the same tribe, can control the destiny of 300 Million Americans. It can become a Troika Dictatorship, as we have seen with Obamanation.

Obamanation has been proven to be a disastrous failure to all but the true-believers in the Debtocrat Tribe. They will vote again to support their sorry tribal leaders. They cannot be reasoned with because they are true-believers, and are thus beyond the reach of reasoned dialog. Chris Matthews, Mika Z. and Gov. Dean are perfect examples. Each one, for different reasons, fears the eventual loss of their tribe loosing the dubious distinction of being “Number 1.” What is best for America has NEVER entered their thought process.

The above is my humble, but ALWAYS correct description of the problem. The solution I leave to those that are smarter than me.

That’s a laugh. Think about it. Did Mr. Ransom mean this?

His identity as a father and husband is....what?
A Cover.
Search for the deaths related to Jeremiah Wright’s...what was it?...the “Down Low Club”...
Check out the numerous limp-wristed, package-protecting homosexual poses.
Larry Sinclair.

Obama, like all narcissists, CLINGS TO LIES. Tightly indeed! They must, because the fundamental lie is the one they believe about themSELVES.
For narcissists, truth is worse than a cross to a vampire.

YOU LIE!

ahhh! “magic trick of redefining of words”...yes.
Manipulative as well.
Just. Like. ALL. Narcissists.

@charlie; We do desperately need someone with the stones to speak the truth.
Think we can talk Van Helsing into running?

The author does a good job of pegging Obama. It is not just that he interviewed well for a job over his head. No. No matter how broken our system is, it still has some capability to slow him down. This is why he has proceeded to do things through executive action.

These will fail him too. He has lost his personal 'magic' and, while he tinkers with his social engineering, the world is going to hell. He won't get away with it (find thread on German reporter calling out Carney) and he won't stand for being told, "No."

He is broken.

I’ve said it this way for a couple of years now as a “hedge my bets” sort of thing:

Either Obama is going down hard, or he really IS the Antichrist, in which case God will do it overtly. And THEN he is going down hard.

Either way, this will be exposed for what it is - one way or the other. And whichever way it goes, I think it will be very soon.

Well, he's got the Lying part down to an art, but I don't think he has the ability to pull off any 'signs and wonders' anymore.

Unless... Wrong thread to put this on, but what if some of this E Cat or cold fusion stuff is proven true and we have a working version of it somewhere developed by .gov? Imagine he announces that he has provided funds for the research and we now have a clean, unlimited energy source. My oh, my. He would sit on a throne of gold.

Yep. We don’t know what we don’t know. When you went to work early on September 11th, 2001, did you know that your country would change forever that day. Or those who went to work early on December 7th, 1941. Or the ones who went to work early on January 30th, 2012, but...

Oops. I get ahead of myself. Never mind...
