Yet another argument for the contention that were living in a golden era for American muscle cars arrives with the 2013 Ford Mustang, which will sport a brace of tech and styling updates across its line including the most powerful V8 engine sold by any automaker in the world. How much trouble could you get in with a 200-mph Stang?
The original pony car has survived 46 years only through annual tweaking between major redesigns, and offering a broad enough model range to lure in everyone from high-schoolers to professional drag racers. Thanks to the competition with the revived Chevrolet Camaro, theres more muscle in muscle cars than ever before; todays base V6 Mustang has more grunt than the V8 flashed seven years ago.

Does it have a mind of its own and kill human beings like those inherently evil, bad seed, SUVs?
Too bad they’ve effed up the front end and the tail lights. The front end looks like it was inspired by an early Gran Torino.
Another product of lazy Americans.
Love the car but it’s not for me, I would get in way too much trouble.
goddess gaia and algore will not be happy.
I’d rather have a 1964!!!
its battery must be way bigger than the Chevy Volt’s.
She’s a beauty, but can she go around a corner without the rear end trying to race the front there?
Ford has done the best job with the retro cars. I guess they learned when they royally screwed up the T-bird.
Mustang is the best.
Challenger is pretty good.
Camaro is bloated, and overpriced.
Charger is a pig.
Tbird was underpowered, and just didn’t work.
Me too, this car would come in handy once the 2012 elections go “Max Max Beyond Thunderdome” ...
The 2003 SVT Cobra I had seems pretty tame, by comparison. The supercharged DOHC on that model was rated at 390HP, but dyno testing by owners confirmed it was more like 425HP.
They usually made way over 350HP at the wheels, stock.
Getting rid of the junk IRS on those and going back to a live axle in 2005 was a brilliant move by Ford to please the muscle car crowd. Muscle cars are supposed to rule at the dragstrip, not the autocross track.
Oh, and I forgot the GTO, because it’s so forgetable.
It was a decent car, but in no way was it a GTO.
If you see it now, then it’s not of 2013! Duh!
650hp is not the top, perhaps of a production car.
I wonder what my insurance company would say when I called to insure this one! Probably click buzz.
