STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Reuters) - The lawyer for the Penn State football coach charged with child sex abuse said in an interview on Monday the boy at the center of a 2002 incident detailed in the grand jury's report had been identified and said it never happened.
Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was arrested more than a week ago on charges he sexually abused eight young boys over a 15-year period.
Speaking to sportscaster Bob Costas, Joe Amendola, who represents Sandusky, said "we anticipate we're going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, 'This never happened.'"
Sandusky, in a telephone interview with Costas that aired at the same time, acknowledged he had horsed around and showered with children involved in the Second Mile charity he founded.
But he denied he was a pedophile.

He’s probably guilty but I’ve tried to warn many times on here, don’t assume you know the truth based on initial media reports.
I wasn’t in that shower, don’t know sandusky or the alleged victims, have never been to Penn State. Just maybe that disqualifies me from rendering final judgment based on what I hear on tv.
Don’t doubt there are checks and cash flying around. Don’t doubt what people will recant for the right amount of cheese
And there posting has a familiar ring to it, similar to the Euro elitists who were indicted in the recent ‘child pornography’ scandal, which was so much more than a child porn issue but which got sanitized as best the whoredom of media could do with it after so much was exposed. The posters on this thread sound like that perv, Scott Ritter.
And yet the governor of Pennsylvania spent plenty of time doing damage control in the media this week.
Got me there. I didn’t get to the end of your post. Eyes glazed over. It happens sometimes.
The Sandusky problem at Penn State is a direct result of Graham Spanier's agenda for the school.
According to the Boston Herald, the media frenzy forced the trustees to fire Paterno.
I think in the rush to do something, the trustees forgot who the villians were, and my question for them is who negotiated and who approved emeritus status for Sandusky as part of his retirement package? An answer to that will define who the enablers were and whether it was part of Spanier's LGBT agenda.
Indeed. They doth protest too much...especially given the nature of the crimes.
“I never knew no Godfather. I got my own family, Senator.”
But you know, he's not really a whistleblower? Right?
And we know how that plays out...money talks as do other means they can use to disuade with. No doubt, IMO, the more who retract the more serious and widespread the crimes into "protected" areas of influnece and power. Makes ya wonder who the fall guys will be and appointed for that.
I’m born and raised in PA. Lived here most of my life. The reason I’ve loathed Penn State since my youth is because I’ve had to deal with them. It’s the most cultish school in the country.
I don’t know no one backed him up because I have not followed this very closely. I have followed it closely enough to know that some of these lynch mobbers here to paraphrase Ronald Reagan “know” things that are not true.
Among the wrong things they know so far in this thread the prosecutor who disappear tried to stop him when the prosector declined to press charges and the rumor of rich donors being PSU donors when the only fair reading is the donors in the rumor are donors to Sandusky’s charity.
Wow. Somebody who doesn’t want to jump to any conclusions. You’re going to be sorry for taking that position with this bunch.
I live in a suburb of Columbus. Ohio State is every bit as bizarre and frankly, disgusting.
I know what you mean about Penn State though; my ex-wife and her brother are graduates.
Yep. For example, we were told many times that sandusky “admitted” what he did in the shower, but wasn’t prosecuted. That seems highly unlikely that he admitted to a sex act with a child. Far more likely he said he was “horsing around”. And remember being seen in the shower was the strongest evidence we’ve heard.
Not saying he’s innocent for one second. I have no idea and guess that he’s guilty.
Paid administrative leave (when everybody else was fired) and witness protection. Sounds like he’s getting it to me.
Well, since the Grand Jury investigation began on his watch, and since the AG is completely independent of the Governor's office, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
Corbett is a politician. This is a high visibility case and he has the opportunity to take a position against pedophilia. His appearing in public to whore free votes is pretty much a nobrainer.
Let’s say Paterno did as you have posited, allbeit simply an example of what might have occurred.
Even with that allowed, isn’t it far more appropriate for the public to remain outraged by a system which continues to allow, even promote sexual immorality and its consequences, than to ignore them, their consequences in this particular situation over the last decade, and possibly condone their continuance and emulation by other criminals in the future?
I see nothing wrong in observing how far this corrupt system has crept. It has been a contagion which needs observation and corrective actions. Without identifying its extent, the root of the corruption is likely to spread even further.
It is not important that you glazed over my post. It is important if you glaze over some of the information on this case and then join the lynch mob. It is important that the DA declined to prosecute him in 1998.
My view is that affect everything that follows. That affects the decisions of Paterno and everyone else at PSU.
Thanks to both of you for a brief moment of honesty.
