I suspect that not a single person in that stadium had anything to do with the crimes that occurred.
Here’s what this looks like to me. Freepers who now wish to trash the hell out of Penn State for the awful crimes of a few are very much like the people who trash America for atrocities committed by a few. It seems like to be consistent, those trashing PSU must also hold that we are a racist, imperialist nation.
I’m proud of this country and I’m proud of Penn State.
Bully for you. You are defending the indefensible. You are defending a hideous university. Enjoy yourself.
I don’t think most of us are tarring and feathering the entire university. Anyone with a brain knows better than to do that.
But in the wake of the recent riots, I find the Governor’s statement a little too broad the other way. There’s a lot not to be proud of, both in the actions of a few and the reasction by many students, many of whom probably don’t know the facts. He would have served the student body and the state better by simply staying out of it.
Sure it does - it shows that they can't walk away a game - ostensibly done at an "amateur level", as an adjunct to education - not for a single DAMNED DAY - when the leaders of the organization put those games, the revenues, the "pride" - over the safety of little boys who were ANALLY RAPED!
Well, frankly speaking, between this and Michael Mann’s AGW data that undermined scientific theory, Penn State has a lot to answer for. But, it’s not just Penn State. What is taught and endorsed on many college campuses—especially the big, state-run schools—endorses perversion, and we all know it. As taxpayers, we finance it. We can’t pretend that college years are some coming-of-age youth celebration when that environment preaches predation of the intellect, body and body politic. None of us should rightfully give our blessings to these odd, queer studies.
I am ashamed of this country, and I am ashamed of Penn State.
I am a Penn State "Hater", but mostly as a rivalry kind of thing. That said, other than the very small minority of students that did the rioting, I think there is much to be proud of. I sense alot of "hatred" going on here for Penn State, similar to the hate you see when it comes to college football fans doing there thing. But so far, I think the vast majority of Penn State fans have comported themselves quite well.
“Im proud of this country and Im proud of Penn State.”
So the PSU president and who knows who else besides the other 5 or so downward knew about this for 12 or so years and allowed and/or enabled it.
How deep would this have to go for you to not be “proud” of Penn State?
What if one or more of the trustees knew and/or was involved?
What if there is a network of this among other Universities?
Wow.
To draw a line in the sand and make an "I am Spartacus" stand is courageous and noble.
To make an "I am Spartacus" stand in defense of Penn State -- today of all days -- is remarkably tone deaf and, quite frankly, obscene.
“Freepers who now wish to trash the hell out of Penn State for the awful crimes of a few”
A FEW???
It was THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE UNIVERSITY, for chrissakes.
They don’t seem too concerned about those who did the crimes and covered them up.
