Serial child sex abuse; what could Sandusky's wife have known?

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Chattanooga native Dorothy 'Dottie' Gross Sandusky not only has been her husband Jerry's partner in life, and in the raising of six adopted children; but also in his 'Second Mile' charity.
Pennsylvania prosecutors allege the former Penn State defensive coordinator used Second Mile to find, groom and rape at least six young boys between 1994 and 2009.
Some of the alleged attacks are believed to have occurred in the couple's home.
So how, many ask, could Dottie Sandusky not have known?
"I've seen it both ways," clinical social worker Farlie Chastain says. "In which the family knows and is in denial."
"Because these people are good," Nurse Practitioner Allyson Neal says. "They are what you want them to be at any given moment."
"Very good at hiding it from everyone," Chastain says. "Very good at seducing the child and manipulating the child not to tell."

She knew. And like the grandmother of a friend of mine, she may even have helped clean the child up after the abuse, while her husband went to church!
These people will tolerate and hide the abuse for the sake of not disrupting their own lives. Dottie Sandusky liked being the wife of Penn State’s assistant coach.
I agree, Wiser now. She knew. She HAD to know. Some of the rapes occurred in her own basement. No one is going to tell me that she didn’t look these children in the eye the next morning and not know something horrible had happened. Sandusky probably picked her as his wife because she is a weak person. The type of person not to make waves or question her husband about his “business”. IMHO>

Many years ago I was involved in a divorce after discovering things I had absolutely no knowledge had been occurring for several years behind my back.
Everybody else knew about it, but nobody told me.
When I observed indicators of something wrong going on, they were emotional outbursts, which I attributed to other causes. Those who were guilty, didn't want to be found out and concealed their behavior quite well.
One difference is that once I discovered what had been happening, I separated myself from those same people.
Head Coaches observe thousands of minutia in human behavior and assess situations based upon some very astute perceptions. They like to believe they can read human character well and lead others to change their behavior as leaders. The public will assume Paterno had those traits and probably knew far more about the situation than is being revealed.
I don't know how much he did know until more is revealed, but it does appear he aided and abetted felonious behavior cognizantly or unwittingly.
She called one of the known victims, according to the grand jury report.
She knew.
It really doesn’t matter what she knew, but what matters is the fact that this ChoMo spend the rest of his life in prison!! He won’t make it 1 yr without being shanked by other inmates. Rot in HELL, Sandusky!!
Were the adopted children all boys? Just wondering.

And then my _entire_ family would turn on -me- and savage me like a pack of starving Piranha.
That is what happens when evil protects evil; the innocent get devoured.
Imagine how all those poor boys felt while watching the “support protests”.
Raped again...in public...in broad daylight.
Sometimes, things are not as simple as they seem.

Freepers are dropping the ball on this story. Sandusky RAPED a boy in the open at PSU and he rolled around with them there too. He was NOT doing this in scret and was not careful.

He spent a ton of time in HIS BASEMENT with those boys.
He took a boy on a chartered TEAM plane across state lines.
The wife knew and paterno. The only way they didn’t is if they were entirely, 100 percent willfully blind.
Great post mk. People forget mcqueery was a PSU QB and 28 years old. He was an elite athelete and could have literally killed that old man with his bare hands.
Some times this sort of babbling is the result of a subconscious inkling the the opposite may be true.
She certainly should have become suspicious when all he wanted was anal sex.

It’s been *abundantly* clear for 30+ years now, that I want -nothing- to do with him, thereby removing me from her presence, as well...which of course, I could hardly explain to her *why*.
It seemed odd in the extreme that the one time she actually sees me in literal decades, she launches into absolutely bizarre “All hail!” diatribe about his myriad grand qualities.

Truly, it was a “WTF?!?” experience.
I’ve always thought she knew, especially since I witnessed that their own/only daughter was not spared his attentions.
There’s a “bright side” to it all.

Oddly enough, his dad had a Dobe and he loved them...but his dad’s Dobe was *not* like mine...at all.

What about the school that allowed Sandusky to depart with (at least) one of the boys without his parents’permission?
The governor was the one who started the investigation in 2009. The current AG was appointed by him and Noonan the state police head was his right hand man when he was AG. He is one of the good guys in this situation. He has followed the law in order to not spoil the prosecution.

The season should be cancelled. If this was a money deal with players the team would be suspended...

The big donors should protest by announcing they aren’t coming to the game...the community should demand they shut it down...But nah, the games and money are more important.
