...” and listen to my aunt endlessly tell me what an incredibly good, decent, kind and wonderful man my uncle is.”

Some times this sort of babbling is the result of a subconscious inkling the the opposite may be true.

Funny you should say that.

It’s been *abundantly* clear for 30+ years now, that I want -nothing- to do with him, thereby removing me from her presence, as well...which of course, I could hardly explain to her *why*.

It seemed odd in the extreme that the one time she actually sees me in literal decades, she launches into absolutely bizarre “All hail!” diatribe about his myriad grand qualities.
[”babbling” is perfect, really]

Truly, it was a “WTF?!?” experience.

I’ve always thought she knew, especially since I witnessed that their own/only daughter was not spared his attentions.

There’s a “bright side” to it all.

If not for him, I would never have gotten my first Dobermann.

For 37 years, I’ve been a die hard devotee of the breed.
They literally saved my life.

[and nothing makes a pedo lose interest in a kid faster than a hundred pounds of teeth trained to go for the crotch following her *everywhere*]

Oddly enough, his dad had a Dobe and he loved them...but his dad’s Dobe was *not* like mine...at all.

Even as a kid, I had a twisted sense of ironic humor.

:)
