The governor was the one who started the investigation in 2009. The current AG was appointed by him and Noonan the state police head was his right hand man when he was AG. He is one of the good guys in this situation. He has followed the law in order to not spoil the prosecution.
There’s a surprisingly positive article in the NYT today about Gov. Corbett (R). As a young prosecutor he dealt with a pedophile who started a charity, Children of the Wind, to access his victims. Corbett’s Roman Catholic and the rapist priests scandal also deeply affected him.
I thought this was very interesting in the article:
“On Friday, the governor finally got the word. The grand jury indictment had been filed under seal, but because of a computer glitch it had mistakenly been made public. Soon Mr. Corbetts office was inundated with calls. Mr. Harley reached the governor in his car.”
If it was a “glitch”, it certainly was a providential one.
