Polls: Gingrich Grows on GOP Voters (Gingrich now in Second in Several Polls)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-11-11 | Mary Lu Carnevale

Two polls out Friday show former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s campaign gaining traction. And both polls show there’s plenty of room for the race to change dramatically: 17% of respondents are undecided.

A McClatchy-Marist poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents finds that Mitt Romney’s poll numbers remain steady – he generally garners the support of about a quarter of the Republican and Republican-leaning voters. That puts him in the lead, with Mr. Gingrich in second and former front-runner Herman Cain close behind.

By the numbers: Mr. Romney, 23%; Mr. Gingrich, 19%; Mr. Cain, 17%;Texas Rep. Ron Paul 10%; Texas Gov. Rick Perry, 8%, and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, 5%. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum got 1% apiece.

What’s presidential to you? The guy that can’t remember what he is going to say from one minute to the next or the guy that wants to sell you your own car and make you think you are getting it for a deal?

Mark my words,

The Middle East is about to erupt very soon and we cannot have a political neophyte like Cain in charge, winging it on what to do and how to do it. We especially cannot have Obama in office when it happens.

Look back on Reagan, who had a long history of study on Military action. And the result was Granada and Libya. As well as the fall of the Soviet Union. Reagan was a master at knowing how to target international threats.

Here again, we find ourselves back at 2008 in complete chaotic emotional bliss over defending political trainees from the MSM.

They get advisors and Generals reporting to them. Dumbo’s problem is he didn’t listen to them.

I'd say all the GOP wannabees have major deficiencies. Bachmann and Newt do have legislative records to judge them on. But Newt also has some serious problems related to ethics and principles. Romney and Huntsman have less time combined as state governors then Perry has. No one has a better or more successful conservative governing record than Gov Perry. Period. Perry is also a lousy debater and that has seriously hurt his candidacy.

Bottom line. Romney is a scumbag. Cain and his two lieutenants, Block and Gordon, have run a less then stellar campaign that has been incompetent and unethical at times. This emotional euphoria for pizzaman is not consistent with what conservatism really stands for. You want a neophyte to be the GOP nominee, have at it. Not me!

On another note...We don’t have the luxury of timme to vote for someone without the experience necessary to take the bull by it’s horns Onyx. At another time I would have considered other candidates, but not in the state of our nation and the International community as it is today. What a huge mess it all is!

Therefore i put aside my personal desires of a candidate and honestly looked at who was best to take all this on. No contest Newt surpasses all others.....even just four years of Newt can turn the tide...and any downside in Newt is far overshadowed by his abilities and strengths to take this job on.

Your points are history ‘at that time’..this is now and many things have changed...as well many politicians have changed their positions with the nation in peril and the International Stage in upheaval. Heck even some of the Democrates!

I forgive Newts past...as does those who understand we are no longer in those days...Newt understands he cannot simply state an agenda...he has to know how to impliment it speedily,...and he surely knows how to do that and get Congress to back him. It will not do our country well taking on anyone who requires a learning curve for even the basics of running Government...let alone manuver the halls of Washington in determining who is who and how they operate behind closed doors...Newt knows where those doors are and he surely knows who uses them.

I won’t be voting for Romney, Perry or Paul. Bachmann has too much ground to make up. So do Huntsman and Santorum. That leaves me with Cain and Newt. I just hope the other drop out in timely fashion for people to coalesce behind one candidate so that Newt and Cain do not split votes.

Cain is not going to win the nomination.... surely you can see that?

I'm at a loss to explain it, but...no, they can't.

Newt Gingrich's view of Paul Ryan's Economic Plan:

Gingrich, who led the House in the mid-1990s, slammed the current House Budge Committee chairman's spending blueprint as a “radical” step toward “right-wing social engineering.”

Time for Romney to GTFO!

This should be a Gingrich vs. Cain race, with a serious discussion about who really is the best man for the job.

Go home, Mitt Romney.

Make like a pair of faulty magic underwear and split.

Yes. it's deadly serious time. Often overlooked is the major job of president and that is CIC, not job creator.

Which candidate do you want to have dealing with the Iranian situation?

I liked Newt's straight forward and concise answers to Bret Baier’s panel. He's given a lot of careful thought to Iran and their pursuit of nukes.

For many, Herman Cain is the more likable candidate and if he wins the nomination, I'll be fine with that, but he will need to choose Newt for his "Cheney" VP, IMO.

Romney will be running when he’s 80.
In 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024 and beyond.

Sucks to be a Newt hater, huh? :-)
When I supported Rick Perry, the Perry-haters got under my skin.

Then I stopped supporting Rick Perry because Perry can't debate.

I looked around. I find myself more and more leaning towards Newt.

And I know, once I start posting for Newt, I will be attacked by Newt-haters just as I previously was attacked by Perry-haters.

But this time it won't get under my skin. I don't feel like I have to "defend Newt".

He does a pretty good job of speaking up for himself.

What a relief.
