Polls: Gingrich Grows on GOP Voters (Gingrich now in Second in Several Polls)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-11-11 | Mary Lu Carnevale

Posted on 11/11/2011 9:32:30 AM PST by TitansAFC

Two polls out Friday show former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s campaign gaining traction. And both polls show there’s plenty of room for the race to change dramatically: 17% of respondents are undecided.

A McClatchy-Marist poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents finds that Mitt Romney’s poll numbers remain steady – he generally garners the support of about a quarter of the Republican and Republican-leaning voters. That puts him in the lead, with Mr. Gingrich in second and former front-runner Herman Cain close behind.

By the numbers: Mr. Romney, 23%; Mr. Gingrich, 19%; Mr. Cain, 17%;Texas Rep. Ron Paul 10%; Texas Gov. Rick Perry, 8%, and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, 5%. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum got 1% apiece.

I’d pay to watch Newt chew up and spit out Obama in a debate, and he’d do it.

If anyone can handle the media slime and democray slime machine, it’s Newt.

He’s had plenty of experience and everyone applauds his media smack downs.

Rah, Rah, Blah, Blah! Newt? Really? Who is going to vote for this guy? Do people want to vote for another gray-haired, baggage-laden, old guy? I don’t. Is this old pol even a conservative? Not that I can tell. /mini-rant

"Do people have collective amnesia as to what they did to Newt back in 1995, and Newt quit rather than fought?"

And yet, here he is again! The smart general know when to withdraw his troops so that they may fight again later. WWII was not won by 'making a stand' on the beaches of Dunkirk.

Newt will be #1 soon, as Romney has failed to
soar above +25% all these weeks. Romney is the steady
eddy, but it aint going to cut it.
Newt is smart and progressive with vast amount of
experience, and an appropriate person
for this decade, adn best of all he will beat Obama
hands down.

If he shows any big mo, I think the GOP will find Newt a thoroughly acceptable substitute for Romney. There’s something to be said for insiders. The people who can resist you most effectively, won’t resist if they can regard you as one of their own. Gingrich is not exactly a pair of old slippers to them; he can be difficult; but he is familiar and knows how to play with others within the Beltway.
Call me cynical...or anti-idealistic. But I see him having an advantage here.

Gingrich now in Second in Several Polls

OK, let's analyze the situation:

1) Bachmann has said a bunch of stupid stuff.
2) Perry has made a complete idiot out of himself.
3) Romney is the white Obama.
4) Paul is a nutcase.
5) Most people don't know who Santorum is.

Who is left except for Cain and Newt?

Count me in for a NO vote for Newt.

We don't need an adulterer & his mistress as President & First Lady!! We can do better than that!

"....I’m sure hoping Gingrich will!"

The whole field is full of flawed candidates.
I'm a Bachmann supporter, but would throw every ounce of my being behind Newt is he is our candidate.
And the thought of watching him demolish Obama in a debate is delicious.

Why the disrespect? This is a Newt ping group of which I’m one. Even though I think Newt would be a better president than Cain, I sent Cain some money last week in support of his fighting the smears. Just because a single article isn’t about your guy, don’t slam all the rest of us. We’re on your team if it comes to that.

What I like about Newt:

*Smart
*Led 1994 Revolution
*Well versed in conservative talking points
*Like Reagan, he has spent his time out of office philosophically thinking and writing about the issues of our time.

What I don’t like about Newt:

*Baggage
*Has seemingly been on many sides of a few issues

Indeed Onyx...but i have also looked at Newts plans if he takes this election...as wwell as what he has purposed to Obama in the debates....He is so far beyond the other candidates in laying out his plans and his intentions of how to get them going. The “how” is critical IMO and nobody knows better of these candidates “how” to accomplish getting Obama dethroned and the Congress in his court.

The struggle doesn’t always go to the strongest, nor the race to the swiftest .... but, that’s sure as heck where you want to bet your money.

Newt’s the Guy.
