This getting freaky. MUCH stronger (and seemed a full 30 sec.) here in NW OKC than the one early this morning that I posted the thread on.

Getting weirded-out...with the asteroid coming close in a few days and the first ever take-over of the air-waves and test of the EAS next week.

Note to self: "Try to manage your inner doom..."

Went through the Northridge quake as well. When I moved back to KC I remember feeling so safe sleeping at night knowing the risk of a killer quake was little at best.

Hey, San Diegan! Raised there, then Los Angeles. When I moved to Oklahoma they SWORE there wouldn’t be any earthquakes. My neighbors came by today and asked if I felt the one last night, but I slept right through it. I DID feel the one a few minutes ago. But it really wasn’t enough to shake anything off the shelves or make me want to dive under the desk or brace myself in the doorway. Nothing at all like Northridge..that one woke me out of a deep sleep and was already going good when I became conscious. The bed I was in was moving, and I was not able to grab for anything until the shaking stopped.....a few very scary moments. Ahhhhh, memories I never thought I would have again....

The USGS map shows a huge quake east of OK City, and four little ones in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia. A Freeper in Ohio felt the OK quake. I was napping near Chicago and noticed nothing.

I'm in Memphis Tn. smack dab on the New Madrid, was awake and didn't feel a thing. Lived in So. Cal for 26 years so am familiar with all kinds of quakes.

This sure wasn’t where anybody expected an earthquake to be. If one just happened at a fracking site (these were thankfully far away), can you imagine the lawsuits? Whether or not it was a coinky-dink?

They’re already doing that at fracking sites where there’s geological activity. :P

I saw that. That’s pretty far away. I’m surprised nothing got broken here.

I’m in an Oklahoma City suburb, Mustang, much stronger than the one at 2am this morning, but just shaking, no damage.
It is a bit unnerving. The one this morning was over about the Time I figured it was an earthquake not the kid upstairs bouncing off the walls.

Thank you for the map. I used to design buildings all over the country. The map showed one of the strongest earthquakes in history occurred with epicenter in Missouri.
More frequent in California, but you have to design for
strong quakes in Oklahoma too.
