Republican 2012 presidential candidates Republican 2012 presidential candidates Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich met in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate on current economic and social issues facing the U.S.
I just have one problem with Newt, and I would like him to address it. That damn Global Warming commecial. Its burned into my brain. But that aside, both these guys are great.
Ditto. I feel like I am sitting down having a great discussion over a cup of coffee with Herm and Newt, and he is some nosy guy at the next table butting into the conversation.
Easy research material on this one. It was January 1, 1981 that the Galveston Plan was officially started and it was first organized in 1979.

The current debate over Social Security reform is reminiscent of the discussions that occurred in Galveston County, Texas, in 1980, when county workers were offered a retirement alternative to Social Security: At the time they reacted with keen interest and some knee-jerk fear of the unknown. But after 24 years, folks here can say unequivocally that when Galveston County pulled out of the Social Security system in 1981, we were on the road to providing our workers with a better deal than Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.

Perry did not start any term in public office until 1984, as a Democrat.
winning ticket—yes.
He is great:) and has proved that for many years through his books and private life ...his points are excellent and glad to hear you are taking a 2nd look at my man:)
He's already committed to 5 more of the debates.
Well it was a wonkish question about healthcare, and Newt ran a healthcare competitiveness think tank for 3 years.
Love it....
This is GREAT without a loud- ass rude, biased liberal moderator with meaningless or Gotcha questions, and so little time to answer intelligently.
Fair enough, but I trust Cain’s judgement more than I trust Newt’s. As was said earlier, 90 percent of Newt is excellent, but the 10 percent is just plain baffling.
I want the man I know is going to be the same thing every day for four years in office, and that’s Cain.
“that’s their little boogey woogey, as my grandmother used to say”
LOVE THIS MAN!!

LOL! geAUx TIGERS! War Eagle! 3- 0 in the wrong.
Gingrich just confirms what Cain said (in a lot more words) 10th amendment. Power back to the states.
Gingrich has been amazing tonight. What he said about sending a package to illegals was brilliant. Does Newt have his faults, absolutely..but I dont think anyone can argue that Newt is a very intelligent man. He might end up winning this whole thing, people should keep an eye on Newt, I am warming up to him too, after seeing this debate tonight I am thinking a Cain/Gingrich(Or Visa Versa) would be a dream ticket
YES....diminishing return on UNEMPLOYMENT benefits!!!
thanks
This is the first intelligent debate we’ve seen.
The Woodlands is about 40 miles north of Houston on Hwy. 45. I live about ten miles north of The Woodlands. It’s all Montgomery County. We have over 300,000 in our county and it’s the most Republican county in our state (not many Democrats here). Almost any Republican running for state office, makes a trip to our county. Now we have Newt/Cain tonight.
