Where did you Cain supporters get your inflated idea of what Cain has done?

That was perhaps the dopiest post on the thread, but I'll humor you (or myself) with a brief explanation.

Herman Cain was the CEO of a large, nationwide corporation. When he became the CEO, that company was losing $8 Billion dollars a year. He streamlined their operations, and turned the company around so well, that they began making PROFITS of $2 Billion dollars a year.

I don't care what business you're in, those are mighty impressive results. The executive skills required to perform that sort of miracle are exactly the same set of skills that are possessed by the most successful political leaders.

It is so exhausting trying to talk even trivial facts amongst different people making different points.

SOMEONE posted a snippet from an AP story that said “all the candidates’ were invited to TONIGHT’S debate. That was the AP quote I was disputing. That’s why I explicitly mentioned being invited to TONIGHTS debate.

Back at the beginning of the thread, more than one Cain supporter attacked Perry for having turned down an invitation to THIS NIGHT’S DEBATE. You might have missed that if you came in late. That is what I am referring to.

The TTP has apparently invited all the candidates for similar events. They pretty much have to because otherwise they might run afoul of campaign laws. I doubt Perry will do a one-on-one with Romney or another candidate, although I think it would be fun. Perry has his own plan to get his name and ideas out, as do the other candidates.

So far as I can tell, no other candidate has pursued this idea. Maybe they will now that they see it can work. For someone like Santorum it might offer recognition he can’t afford to buy.

So, I guess I’m sorry that you thought I was questioning whether Perry was ever invited — I have posted elsewhere that he was, so I can assure you I am not in doubt on that point.

Like I said, it’s exhausting trying to straighten out every misconception, misstatement, and misunderstanding when there are so many freepers looking to pick fights instead of discussing the issues.

I don’t know how ANYBODY benefits from the childish namecalling around here, but a lot of people seem to really like bandwith taken up with it.

I’m 100% with you that his 2008 endorsement is not something to hold against him. However, you are falling into a somewhat common trap of ignoring what Cain actually SAYS and substituting your own interpretation of why he was saying it.

You can’t read Cain’s 2008 endorsement and not believe he actually meant it (well, I guess you could believe he was lying in it, but I don’t). Cain also continued to say similar things about ROmney this year, until Cain started shooting up in the polls. Now he mostly ignores Romney.

Spending the night at the Woodlands Resort after the Texas Patriots PAC "debate" between Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain. They proved that competition is good - wish we'd had some.

In the after debate questions with the bloggers, both men gave Perry talking points, as they did during the "debate." Cain didn't like my questioning why the "Empowerment/Opportunity Zones were any different from another bailout.

Besides that, in the parking lot in front of my room - taking up 5 -6 of the parking spaces - is the Newt Mobile, the Cain Train pick up and the trailer they haul the NewtMobile around in. How close are these two and are we supposed to believe they've got it all figured out?

Why would anyone report back to Perry? I’m a blogger, I’m here, I tweeted during the mutual admiration society meeting.

Unfortunately, it looked to a lot of us that everyone enjoyed hearing what Newt had to say, including Cain. Cain actually punted twice on hard questions.

Is that what he said though? Because his plan is revenue neutral, and funds social security the same amount as before, so we will all be paying just as much in taxes. So there really isn’t any “freed-up” money to use for funding a personal account. Whatever we save from the payroll tax, we pay in sales tax. Except for the richer among us, who already were able to fund our own private retirement accounts.

So I’m not seeing it. Cain also seemed to be suggesting a government involvement in allowing private accounts, which means he must have been talking about the social security fund, not extra money we might have because we aren’t paying payroll tax.

Why is that? Oh...you’re ducking and avoiding again.

I understand why people don’t support him. My question is why, if he’s toast and croutons and completely out of it, why are they spending so much time ATTACKING him? We don’t waste our time attacking Huntsman. And Perry gets attacked a lot more than Paul. Heck, Perry gets attacked more than Romney, and Romney is still battling for the lead.

But it’s all “Perry this”, and “Perry that”. Even in a thread about Cain/Gingrich, the perry haters couldn’t resist attacking Perry before the debate even started.

It’s like an obsession. And while being obsessed FOR a candidate is undestandable, I don’t get being obsessed AGAINST a candidate for being a lousy debater and having a bad presence.

That’s a whole lot of cutting and pasting to try and make the point that Cain didn’t turn around Godfather’s Pizza, and wasn’t a terribly remarkable CEO.

What’s missing from your voluminous post, are the profit and loss numbers that af_vet cited earlier. According to his research, the company was losing $8 Billion a year before Herman Cain took over.

He cut the number of restaurants, and brought the company back to life, achieving a $2 Billion dollar a year profit.

I haven’t gone looking myself, but I’m sure those numbers can be readily found on the net. I’ve now posted them to you twice. Are you going to say that Cain did not do what’s been claimed?
