Occupy DC protesters tried to force entry into the Washington Convention Center on Friday, where Americans for Prosperity is hosting their “Defending the American Dream Summit.” The protesters also formed roadblocks, surrounding the convention center and only allowing non-luxury cars to pass.

I remember the blackout, there were a few more exactly two weeks apart after that one.

Locked in your garage. How horrible. Your husband is an intelligent man!

Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment.

I snapped many years ago when I heard idiot Bush announce “Compassionate Conservatism” after he was sworn in as president the first time. I knew from that moment on we were in deep kim chi.

When I heard that, I all but fell out of my chair.

You're welcome. You might also enjoy Project Gutenberg. If you like science fiction, there's also the Baen Free Library

I thought he actually raised the concept of “compassionate conservatism” during the 2000 campaign.

Whenever it was, when I heard it, up went the hairs on the back of my neck.

Voted for him anyway just because his opponents were evil to the very marrow of their bones.

No more.

Not gonna vote for the guy who’s driving us over the cliff at 80 mph just because the other guy is going to drive us over at 100 mph.

My vote’s for the guy who’s going to lock up the brakes.

I know people that were there last night and it was a very scarey night for them. I am across the Potomac right now in Alexandria at a Tea Party Patriots conference.

M. I meant what I said.

And if I could, I would have Girl Scout cookies airdropped over Panama! ;)

I think a man is not complete until he’s read at least most of Kipling (alongside Shakespeare and a few others). See links at posts 139 and 144.

I know you live in St Augustine too - did you get down to the plaza today? I heard that they blocked the Cathedral this afternoon, hopefully not when people were arriving for the 2 pm wedding, but I was at a conference most of the day and didn’t see what happened.

I left the event around 5:15 and the idiots (many of them “mature” Massachussetts Unitarians from the UUs on the Island) were gone by then and the press was packing up.

Somebody I know was going to drive around the plaza with a sign on his pickup truck proclaiming “Capitalism is Power,” but I’m not sure he ever did it because his wife is a raving liberal.

Kipling wrote about that, too.

If.

I've been sort of watching for a hard-copy collection of Kiplings poems for a while; haven't seen anything decent.

Got any references?

I keep forgetting about the Gutenberg, I will bookmark it. Have you seen this? I’ve found lots of interesting reading here:

“Girl Scout cookies airdropped over Panama!”

I love you for that offer.

I haven’t tasted Girl Scout cookies in years!!!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THOSE COOKIES.

I did a Google search several years ago to see if they mailed cookies. I didn’t find a yes answer. I believe they are missing a HUGE financial opportunity even if it is just once a year.

I would order many, many boxes and put them in the freezer. I would then give them as gifts throughout the year if I haven’t gobbled them down already.

Sigh!!!!

(I am sorry for the late reply.)
