A pretty good shaker for Oklahoma! 15-20 seconds here in OKC. More sharp jolting of the house than previous mild quakes. Woke up the wife...freaked out!

Definitely felt here near Stillwater. 20-seconds of definite, but low intensity vibration of our bedroom windows. Both wife and I awoke and immediately recognized it as an earthquake.

We lived many years in So. California (released for “Good Behavior”). No shaking of anything other than our windows in this wood-framed brick-faced residence built on a slab. My brother across town was also awoken and felt his pier built home sway a bit.

Reports are mostly sharp shaking, heavy rattling and some swaying of hanging stuff. I think the Devon Tower being built downtown is good for this type of quake.

But I'm no engineer!

In 1970 the best tacos in Stillwater were at the El Sol Motel Restaurant.

Especially the chicken tacos!

The tacos were built with meat in the bottom, then fresh lettuce, and tomatoes, then shredded cheddar cheese, and the tacos were then placed under a natural gas blue-flame heater that would melt the cheese and get it nice and crispy along the top of the taco shell. Yummy!

In California they don’t count unless they’re at least a 5. ;~)

Hope nobody got hurt though.

My wife is chatting online with someone near the epicenter that says their refrigerator was moved a half-foot and lots of stuff was thrown from shelves.

No injuries as far as they know. First light is 3+ hours away, so some external damage may yet to be discovered.

OKC is a long way from the New Madrid fault. I live right on the Mississippi River, was awake and didn't feel a thing.

I lived in the L.A. area for 26 years, 4.7 wakes rarely produce damage. Most people in Oklahoma would just think it was the wind.

Stop worrying and go back to sleep. I have seen wind storms in Oklahoma shake and rattle more than a 4.7.

There was a really good mom and pop stand-alone Mexican Restaurant on the East side of North Main, North of Downtown, with a small dining area and take-out. But I remember it more from the late '70s when I was finishing college. Also great food!

Didn’t feel any of that in Detroit.

If we did: it was akin to a truck driving by (happens ALL the time and so never noticed it).

The best place to eat in Oklahoma id any of the Van’s Pig Stands. I live in Memphis and they beat our BBQ anyway you look at it.

Apparently not much here in Bartlesville. Slept right through and I’m a light sleeper. Heading north in a few hours. Will keep a look out.

Yeah folks near the epicenter on-line at KOCO.com are talking about multiple after-shocks.

News crews are there now.

Such excitement! Earthquakes where were supposed to only get twisters.

Cue R.E.M.
