OKC is a long way from the New Madrid fault. I live right on the Mississippi River, was awake and didn't feel a thing.

I lived in the L.A. area for 26 years, 4.7 wakes rarely produce damage. Most people in Oklahoma would just think it was the wind.

Yes I know proximity. Can’t help my dreams. Meers is one of the closer ones. Why can’t I dream about brad Pitt for the past half year rather than earthquakes

This quake was uniquely different from the recent moderate earthquakes throughout central Oklahoma. I was wide awake at the computer, and was immediately aware of much sharper shaking energy through the floor and walls, that sustained for most of 20+ seconds.

The shaking was sharp and sustained enough to wake my wife who began to call for me, and it continued long enough for me to get up, and walk to that bedroom and was still shaking while we discussed it and opened a closet door that is on the SE corner of the house that was still shaking.

Now that I think about it...it may have been closer to 30 seconds total time.

4.7 earthquakes are so rare here that we consider them a Sign of the Apocalypse.

I am less than 100 miles from the New Madrid fault. Was awake at 2:15 and didn't feel a thing. What is concerning is the movement around the New Madrid - it can either be releasing energy (which is good) or adding to the build up of pressure on the New Madrid - which could be a real bi$c). We've had a swarm nearby for the past year on a fault that, previously, no one knew existed.

It may not have been near the New Madrid fault, but given the range of eastern US quakes recently, I would not be surprised if something much more severe happens.

Am near Washington, DC. felt the 3.? near Gaithersburg not too long ago. Was lying in bed and felt it as a slight shudder. Then we had the recent 5.8 in Mineral, VA. Worst in region in over 100 years. Was sitting on the bed and the wall opposite started to shake, I looked up from my papers and it had stopped, but then in a few seconds started up again. I waited to hear an explosion, but when none came decided it was another much stronger earthquake. Friends in the city report minor chimney damage. One person reported seeing a whole row of rowhouses sway in a wave starting from closer to the Mineral end of the block down to the other end of the block. There was mild to moderate chimney damage in some of those houses.
