Texas Gov. Rick Perry says America should extend work visas to allow illegal immigrants to move freely between the U.S. and their home countries _ but opposes a path to citizenship.

Good point. The Auto garage is trying to put someone to work. But all of the sudden he is the bad guy because the feds refuse to do their job. Suddenly a guy working every day for a living and needing some help. Becomes a criminal. Plus he is taking someone off the street and helping then have food shelter ect. Then he becomes the bad guy. A person who is actually one of the good ones, because the FEDS haven’t done their duty.
Agree Perry is rejecting amnesty. Perry is doing a good job right now imo.
We have a gov’t trillions in debt because of the bozos who run the gov’t. Do you think they are going to stop coddling the mexicans ? I would love to see it.
He shouldn’t have had to apologize. He was very short sighted about calling somebody a racist before he thought about it. Or maybe he did it just to smear Perry. Then offered his phony apology.
Someone should tell Perry that there are American citizens who need jobs.
I think Perry is intentionally giving out these statements to make sure nobody votes for him. Perry is taking a dive.
Perry does not want the Presidency, rather, Perry is “using” his candidacy in the presidential race to get more votes for governor, Perry wants the Latino vote in Texas.
Absolutely, stop the feds from “looking the other way.”
It would also be a help if the Courts would allow us to charge tuition or refuse to educate the children in k-12 if illegal. After all, if I decide to drive my kids over to the other school district here in my town, I would either be denied or charged tuition, unless I could show some compelling cause.
I’ve been reading up on the history of the “Braceros Program.” In the past, we’ve had guest workers when we needed them (WWII), then sent them home when we didn’t (when the GI’s returned after WWII).
There is the problem of skills. Picking lettuce and other vegetables actually requires some experience.
And then, there’s the problem of our own entitlements and society that discourage people from doing this sort of labor, even when growers are desperate as they were in Georgia and Arizona, this year. At the least, we should be using prison labor — maybe all those “non-violent” illegals the the Obama administration want to release. And perhaps, there should be some sort of requirement for those on unemployment and other assistance. (My aunts, uncles, cousins and parents worked seasonally in the fields in the 40’s and 50’s. My husband even tried bailing hay for a week or so in the ‘70’s.)
Y R P
I meant YEP....: )
An economic plan to get Americans back to work.
A tax reform plan and a plan to get out of debt by 2020.
An immigration plan to secure the border and help bring a resolution to those who are already here.
I'd also suggest taking a deep breath and examining his work visa plan from A-Z before jumping off a cliff. Along with asking the other candidates what their plan is, because they don't have any plans that I'm aware of. If you will notice the other candidates are borrowing from Perry's own words on a host of issues, for example "boots on the ground" and "secure the border" and "electronic surveillance" and "predator drones" because Rick Perry is the only candidate with real experience and the others haven't a clue what they would do except to borrow from Perry because he is the most qualified on the issue.
I find it revealing that only Perry came up with the plan to dramatically expand energy exploration and production in his economic plan. This is a specific jobs creator and no other candidate has come up with a specific idea or proposal on creating jobs but this man. The others are offering nothing but pie in the sky.
And have you noticed that no one cares, as evident by poll numbers? Perry sank his own ship with the ‘heartless’ comment.
I certainly have noticed you feel it necessary to hit all the Perry threads. This thread is especially interesting as it was started to obscure the real content of the article and Gov. Perry's position on sealing the border and not granting amnesty.
Yeah I have noticed that. I think Perry and Gingrich are the most “sound” candidates. Either one of them would help the economy and other issues. Cain and Romney are just a little too underdeveloped or inconsistent, respectively.
I’m just stealing a page from your Flood and Spin Perry playbook. Shoe, foot, other... or do you need THAT explained to you too?
Tell your guy Perry to stop saying stupid stuff about illegal immigrants. He should just keep his mouth shut rather than say totally dumb stuff like this. It is as if he is trying to sabotage his campaign. That he wants to stay in Texas and run for Senator
I want to support Perry because he is so anti-EPA and in favor of more domestic energy production....There is no one else but is he really this dumb? Or is he really running for Texas Senator because he has been Governor long enough and his wife loves the idea of living in DC??
Bingo, bingo, bingo!
