Herman Cain's chief-of-staff Mark Block walked back accusations that Rick Perry's campaign was responsible for the leak of accusations of sexual harassment during the candidate's time as president of the National Restaurant Association, saying that he would "accept" the claim by a former staffer now affiliated with the Perry campaign that he was not the leak.
"Until we get all the facts, I'm just going to say that we accept what Mr. Anderson has said, and we want to move on with the campaign," Block said on Fox News.
Curt Anderson, the former Cain staffer, has flatly denied the accusations, saying earlier on Fox News that any reporters he had ever spoken to about the Cain were free to openly attribute those comments to him. In doing so, he opened up the door for Politico, who originally reported the story, to confirm him as the source. Politico has not done so, effectively eliminating Anderson as the source of the story.

WHAT legal reasons??? Without details, this is nothing more than just a teaser to keep the story going.
Just keep up the foodfight, Republican establishmentarians. You're probably well on your way to getting a conservative 3rd-party intervention in 2012.
All of these Cain “mistakes” in expressing himself is happening because he is not a politician. Most conservatives have said they don’t like politicians. This is what you get. You either want a politician who knows what and what not to say in public or you want an ordinary normal mistake prone human being.
Today: "Until we get all the facts..."
Block being a Blockhead??
I find it rather interesting that Bill Clinton was known to have more than likely raped at least one woman possibly two, beat the crap out of another in a parking lot, and accosted numerous others, but the press couldn’t have cared less.
Now unspecified rumors by unspecified people have caused Cain no limit of grief. And what’s more, the good folks at FRee Republic are now the best friends of the folks who are instigating this double standard.
Why yes, Cain has a real problem. LOL, perhaps it’s the Conservative movement that has a problem. No specific charges, no named accusers, all a vapor trail at this point, and some of our people are writing Cain off.
LOL, with FReepers like these, who needs D.U., MoveOn.Org, Huffington Post... et al.
LOL...
He definitely needs to bring in more top level staff to handle situations like this and general media relations.
Block brought him this far but he needs help. The campaign has to expand and Block and Cain can still do the Strategy and overall Thrust of the Campaign...but he needs help on execution and implementation.
Hell I’d work for him for food as I’m semi-retired at 50.
I think he’ll be ok, but you only get so many mulligans.
Mr. Block sounds like he ‘aint too bright. Amateur hour.
Agree
I can’t help but stand here on the sidelines chuckling to myself over all of this. Here we are with a gaggle of candidates that HAVEN’T been vetted, re-vetted, and vetted again like...
I agree, because Romney and Cain came out against the Perry place nword rock story didn't they?
Gee-sh, politics is nasty until we get a nominee, then everyone gets in line, including FReepers. Of course they enjoy their fellow Republicans getting beat up in the media. It seems FReepers have forgotten that we are fighting a bigger fight than amongst each other. But in the end all unite because Obama has to be defeated.
This just seems to be Cain’s thing. Say something one day, take it back the next and then demand we all just move on. Good Grief.
This just seems to be Cains thing. Say something one day, take it back the next and then demand we all just move on. Good Grief. Not good.
This is exactly what I've been afraid of.
Is it possible?
Just as Perry can't change his dimwit conversational style, is it possible Cain just can't shake his foot-in-mouth disease?
Time to look more closely at Newt.
Cain was not aware that China has nukes.
As long as his Secretary of State knows that China has nukes, I don’t care. Cain never said he knew every knok and cranny of being a President. What he has is principles and morals and that to me is more important. He will have a very strong staff that will take care of the minute details. I don’t worry about Cain a single bit.
Debunked lie. Some are repeating it as fact, because they cant be bothered doing a few SECONDS of typing in a search engine.
Herman Cain spent the Vietnam war evaluating the capabilities of the Chinese to deliver a nuclear weapon onto the heads of our forces in South Vietnam.
He examined the test launches of the Dongfeng 1 (SS-1) and plotted out the trajectories for a 500kg warheads.
When China started testing the Dongfeng 2 (CSS-1) Cain plotted out the trajectories and capabilities of its delivery of 15 kiloton nuclear weapons.
Both of these missiles were provided to the PRC by the Soviets, Cain analysed data from the Russian test launches and determined the risk to U.S. troops in SE Asia.
Cain also observed the development of Chinas first domestically produced missile, Dongfeng 3 (CSS-2) and plotted out its use with Chinas 15-20KT fissile devices as well as Chinas new thermonuclear devices.
Finally, Cain was involved in the determination that Chinas Dongfeng 4 (CSS-3) was capable of delivering both fissile and thermonuclear devices to both Moscow and Guam as well as cover the entire deployment of U.S. forces in SE Asia.
Cain is well aware of Chinas nuclear missile capability, the only reasonable conclusion is that Cain was indeed referring to Chinas attempts to develop and sail their first nuclear aircraft carrier and their attempts to develop more dangerous nuclear cruisers.

Perry’s biggest problem is that he’s used to preaching to the choir. Texas has large numbers of smart conservatives, many of them Evangelicals, and I don’t think he realized that he couldn’t necessarily take this show on the road. I’m not sure he’ll be able to recover.
I used to think Cain’s major problem was foot-in-mouth, but now I’m thinking it’s a bad case of Clintonitis. That is, lying and hoping his personal charm will carry the day. Not good, and frankly, I wouldn’t vote for him. I would have originally, even though I didn’t like the cult of personality, but this episode has revealed that he’s simply not up to the job.
That said, I really don’t know who to look at. I like Gingrich more than rhe others, but remember that the GOP leadership abandoned him when the Dems attacked (it was the perfectly innocent book deal that they used to get him to step down). And I think the GOP leadership is committed to Romney.
Among the so-called “second tier,” there’s nobody I think would be able to improve significantly.
...now that the damage has been done.
Standard procedure: accusation on page A1, retraction on page C25.
To throw out accusations like they have done and then think it is ok and no harm done they can go jump in the lake or worse as far as I care. I have ZERO respect for Cain and his campaign people, they are as sleazy as Romney ever was.
NO to Romney and NO to Cain! Never!
Give me Rick Perry or Sarah.
Thumbs UP to you MizSterious...had the very same conversation with a few freepers. Getting hard to vet/discuss our candidates without vicious attacks. To think I was gung ho over this election but now I am just sick...

Anybody who thinks Cain doesn’t know China has nukes is just a moron...no better than lil Joey Scarborough and Mika (my daddy is Zbig).
Being fairly well read on nuclear arms myself, I’d also posit that the Chinese are attempting to increase their accuracy and MIRV capability as well as longer range missiles. All of which could be included in Cain’s, “nuclear capability” remark.
Now the Palinization will begin...SNL will have a black comedian say “China doesn’t have nukes” and intellectual heavyweights like Mika, Capeheart, and EdShow will make it real on TV and print.
So, step up heavyweight Freepers emulate your daddy EdShow.
