The lawyer for one of the Cain accusers, Joel P. Bennett, just told the panel on Anderson Cooper's CNN show that it was "his understanding" that the allegation was "leaked to Politico from a Board member of the National Restaurant Association".

Could it have been the former President of the NRA who took over after Cain left, who is a Romney supporter?

That same year at the age of 25, Steve Anderson ran for Congress but lost in the Republican primary to Lynn Martin, who would later become both a good friend and President George Bush's secretary of labor."

He's only saying what the rumors are. All you have to do is search through the headlines here to see that both theories have been discussed. I think it was Obama’s people, but could also believe it was Romney's people. One reason is that Romney hasn't come out in support of Cain against these outrageous charges. Cain has been his friend and was a Romney supporter in the last election.

The woman told police she was caught in "a perfect storm" in a room with someone who was "Teflon-coated in terms of his credibility and celebrity status"..."

Police specifically responded to claims by the woman -- who said she remained clothed through the alleged encounter -- that she had noticed her black slacks had "stains" on them.

Police said they did not collect her attire because they believed it would not provide evidence.

“At this point, the Police Bureau does not consider this an ongoing investigation unless new evidence is received in this case,” Wednesday's police statement said.

Dawn Sweeney is the President & CEO of the largest trade group for the U.S. restaurant industry, the National Restaurant Association.

She is a Maine native with a master of business administration degree from The George Washington University and a bachelor of arts degree in government from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

Dawn Sweeney was named the President and CEO of the National Restaurant Association in 2007.[1] An accomplished executive with a proactive, nonpartisan approach,[2] she has generated positive reviews from the industry and in Washington.[3]

At the National Restaurant Association, she is leading the organization’s mission to help its members “build customer loyalty, rewarding careers and financial success” and “lead America’s restaurant industry into a new era of prosperity, prominence and participation, enhancing the quality of life for all we serve”.[4] She also serves as the CEO of the National Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation.[5]

Before joining the National Restaurant Association, Sweeney was the president and CEO of AARP Services,[6] the wholly owned taxable subsidiary of AARP, where she was responsible for the launch of AARP Financial,[7] which offers financial planning services and products. She also more than quadrupled revenues for the organization that were used to support AARP’s mission.

Before taking the helm at AARP Services, Sweeney was AARP’s Group Executive Officer for Membership, where she launched the association’s Hispanic membership development initiatives and oversaw AARP The Magazine, which is read by more than 20 million people. Prior to that, she held positions at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the International Dairy Foods Association.
