Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

Free press for FR - maybe a few will come to the dark side and join ranks to save this great nation. When the liberal press dislikes you, you're definitely doing something right!
I oppose Romney, but I think not allowing that viewpoint to exist at FR only weakens FR. If conservative candidates are better than Romney, they can win in the market. Losing nondisruptive Romney supporters makes it seem like they have to be eliminated, because the other side can’t hold their own. Just $.02.
Banning Romney supporters is a bad thing because ... why?
Thank you Jim Rob. I hope conservatives can choose their own candidate and not the liberals/lame stream media/ows people.
If Free Republic was so unimportant, they Romney campaign would not even mention it.
First Politico, and now Fox News, nice.
Just as long as they spell your name right. :)
Thank you Jim Rob. I hope conservatives can choose their own candidate and not the liberals/lame stream media/ows people.
Screw Faux News.
Mega dittos to that.
Hey the message is loud & clear: “Jim Thompson” is too important to ignore.
And I say GOOD to the HairHelmet supporters going away —I’m with the urban pizza guy, *all the way*, yup...!
Bring on the paid feminist liars —I LOVE IT..!
Why don’t we simply take up a collection to pay Romney to change his principles to match ours? He’s been happy to change them the past. I don’t see why he wouldn’t do it again.
And the problem is????
At least they used the word "admitted." Instead of "confessed," a la Barbara Boxer.
Wow, they just caught up with the story from Mittens site?
They get their news from bloggers... What a waste of J school money.
I commented on the site as soon as I saw it.
I told them their slander probably lost them the ‘huge amount’ Mitt supporters they had for attacking the site.
Sneaky, nasty folks.
There are Romney supporters here?.............
Umm. I think it is spelled POLUTICO.
If you ask me, Romney would be worse than Obama. We can count on the Republican Congress to thwart Obama's designs, just because they know that Obama is political poison. But you just know that Romney would love to build a "centrist coalition", and get together the RINOs in the Senate and them that are left in the House to start "reaching across the aisle"...
A RINO can implement the Democrat agenda far better than the Democrats can. If it's Romney vs. Obama, I'm voting for Obama.
(Now let's make sure it doesn't come to that, 'cause I really, really don't want to have to vote for Obama!)
Good for you
Misleading headline. Romney propagandists have been banned with ruthless efficiency and all of the mercy they deserve (which is none). But there are still quite a few Romney supporters and leaners here on the site.
As for me, no Romney. Not now. Not ever. I will vote 3rd party or leave the line blank rather than be an obedient GOP slave to the so-called "moderates".
“Karl Rove, FOX & Co, can shove their RINO du jour where the sun don’t shine!!”
Water Board Tokyo Rove.
