Described as a "very private person," the all-but-invisible wife of the candidate will soon speak to the media for the first time

Cain was asked about his wife and family, who have not campaigned with him actively. Cain's response: His wife will soon give an exclusive interview, but he has intentionally shielded her and their two children from the limelight of the presidential campaign. "You will meet my wife publicly in an exclusive interview that we are currently planning and anticipating, but you won't see my family out on the campaign trail on a day-to-day basis," Cain said. "My wife represents that calm and tranquility that I look forward to seeing when I get home.

How incredibly refreshing it would be to have a First Lady who was nothing but the wife of the President. Who wasn’t out campaigning for him for four years. Who didn’t have “a cause”—always something “for the children.” Who didn’t have a social secretary because she made no speeches and appearances.

Blame Jackie Kennedy and her amphetamines for the hyper-active First Ladies we’ve had to endure for fifty years.

Has anyone seen a photograph of the Obama family, together, and when they actually looked happy? Refreshing.

True, but Eleanor Roosevelt wasn’t exactly a shrinking violet and everyone ‘knew’ Bess Truman and Mamie Eisenhower but Jack and Jackie were comparatively young, photogenic and the press gobbled them up....having the pre school kids in the WH also kept the press at the gates.

Oh my gooodness, they both look like they are about 15-16 when this was taken. I’m not saying that they were, just that they looked like it.

For the record I looked like I was about 15-16 when I got married. All the guys at my husband’s work accused him of robbing the cradle after they met me.

She’s a pretty lady! I know Herman will try to protect her from the media jackals as much as possible.

AMEN!!!!! And we women also would not have to endure such put-downs as Hillary spewed ...remember the “I didn’t just stay home baking cookies” line .... a total afront to all the American women who had simply made different choices ...

We don’t elect these women, yet they and their beliefs are shoved down our throats for four years. I’m tired of the “causes” and the silly media attention. It’s just repetitive and boring at this point ... watching Michelle Obama rave about her “fake” garden ....nauseating.

How about just a nice, classy wife who goes about her life, supports the president, and just stays neutral and professional ...wouldn’t it be refreshing?
