Cain edges Perry in new Texas poll
American Thinker ^ | 10/31/11 | Rick Moran

Posted on 10/31/2011 5:30:29 AM PDT by TexasFreeper2009

Herman Cain's support appears to be broad and deep, even in Rick Perry's home turf of Texas.

A new University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll show a statistical tie at the top between Cain and Perry, with Texan Ron Paul running 3rd:

Cain got 27 percent to Perry's 26 percent among Texas registered voters who identify themselves as Republicans. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul was next with 12 percent, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 9 percent and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent. The other Republican primary candidates - Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson and Rick Santorum - each got 2 percent or less; 11 percent of the respondents answered "don't know," and another 1 percent said they would prefer "another Republican candidate."

why would anyone who had a legitimate complaint about harrassment settle for only 5 figures?

Spot on Chile. I am a manager in a small 30-person firm in an at will work State. Out attorney has told us many times, if a woman or person of color makes an accusation it is an automatic payday for them of $30,000. Don't even bother take it to court as it will take $30,000 in legal fees just to get started to prove your innocence. Such is the state of our protected class in the good old US of A.

What are you smoking? Perrywinkle and Romney(care) have sucking chest wounds. Any unbiased observer can plainly see Cain has initiative and momentum going for him. That is demonstrated by the increasing amount of money flowing his way.

Actually I hope he keeps it up. Most conservatives despise the man. So the more he spouts off, the better it is for candidates he does not support. I think he will also alienate some indies and non-RINO Pubbie voters. Especially when Cain picks up the Bachmann and Santorum voters.

Even getting one of them to quit, perhaps by offering her/him the VP or some other important position in his administration, will have a momentum/money enhancing affect.

Perry, being the governor of Texas and thus a “favorite son” candidate, should by rights be running away with Texas. The fact that Cain is beating Perry in his home state shows (1) how weak Perry is, and (2) how strong Cain is.

Exactly. It blatently obvious how Perry is losing his home state. The only reason he's currently the governor is because Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Republican - Senior US Senator from Texas) ran against him and conservatives voted AGAINST KBH rather than FOR Perry. KBH was so confident that she even sold her D.C. home (in VA). It's very doubtful he'll get another term as governor because Texans are getting tired of his liberal ways. Truth be told, he knows he's on the way out and this presidential run is his last hurrah.

So instate tuition granted any person who comes to Texas and has lived here for 3 years and graduated from a Texas high school and is going after citizenship has resulted in rapes, robbery’s and murders huh?Ya’ll are spinning out of control

Anything that makes it more attractive for illegals to invade our Country increases the number of illegal invaders and therefore increases the number of American citizens who will be robbed, raped and murdered by illegal invaders.

The only one weaker on border security than Ricky La Raza is Hussein himself. No, I take that back. Hussein doesn’t care about the border other than any votes it’ll get him while Perry panders to his illegals. You claim you’re from Texas, then explain why he hasn’t done anything about East Austin. 1000 feet from the governor’s window are thousands of illegals with their hands out for our tax dollars.

Cain edges Perry.

A lot of Texans dislike Perry because he recently slashed the budget. I have defense attorney friends that hate his guts. This is due to the tort reform law he enacted. Teachers are mad at him because of the budget cuts. So yes, he has plenty of opposition here.

That's what happens to a fiscal conservative that balances the budget. At least he has a record, and a good one at that. Low taxes, balanced budget, rainy day fund, huge amount of jobs created.

I like him.

Exactly not really.

Perry very recently underwent a huge amount of teeth gnashing and opposition from the T.E.A. (Texas Education Agency) and individual teachers by the thousands across the state. He drastically cut the state budget. I don't know of a single teacher that likes him. I also know a LOT of attornies as in a TON of them, and they hate Perry's guts because of the tort reform law he enacted. They're capped on what they can win, and pay all court costs when they lose (in a civil lawsuit.)

So you betcha Rick Perry has a lot of opposition here. That's what happens when you stand on principles and balance your state budget, demonstrating leadership under tough economic times.

This is one reason I support Rick Perry and am proud of him.

I said it before, it’s real easy to support a candidate that gives good speeches but has never had to deal with illegal immigration, border security, foreign relations, etc.
