Details about the new sex education curriculum in New York City public schools are out -- and some are concerned the lessons are too racy.
The New York Post obtained workbooks that will be used for the new recommended curriculum, which begins in middle schools and high schools around the city next spring. Parents, they say, may be shocked by details of the work.
Middle school students will be assigned "risk cards" that rate the safety of different activities, the paper says, from French kissing to oral sex.
The workbooks for older students direct them to a website run by Columbia University, which explores topics such as sexual positions, porn stars, and bestiality. The lessons explain risky sexual behavior and suggest students go to stores to jot condom brands and prices.
The Department of Education says the curriculum "stresses that abstinence is the best way to avoid pregnancy and STD/HIV" and reminded the Post that parents have the option to exclude their kids from lessons on "methods of prevention."
When given details of the new programs, one Manhattan mom -- who has a child in middle-school -- was surprised.
"I didn't know how much detail they would get," she said.
In August, Deputy Mayor Linda Gibbs commended the return of mandatory sex ed, saying the DOE wants to give students the correct information about sexual activity if they do choose to engage in it.
"We want to help kids to delay the onset of sexual activity, and if they choose to engage in sexual activity, to do it in a healthy way," she said.
The classes will be coeducational, and can be incorporated into existing health education courses.
My guess is that you have no idea what goes on in your schools, behind your back, without parent notification.
You’re quite right about that. Because long before they taught today’s kids these latest perversions, they taught their parents cranio-rectal insertion.
I remember a while back there was some pamphlet that Planned Barrenhood or somebody like that was pushing on the kids in public schools. Somebody tried to show it to Congress but they said they couldn’t view it because it was pornographic. Our pure-as-the-driven-snow Congress, with people like Anthony Weiner, couldn’t even SEE what was being forced on teenagers in the public schools.
Gag. This world is absolutely nuts.
Do you teach a kid to shoot in order to deter them from shooting?
Do you teach a kid to drive to deter them from driving?
The initial premise is flawed.
I’ll ping it tomorrow.
information here on opting out/sample letter ,etc

we’ll be making copies and passing them out to our Churches, etc.
Agreed, people who claim to have convictions, then send their kids to public schools, is the paradox of our time.
But you expect others to pay attention to your opinions.
I’ve bumped heads with lady luck before. The one thing she doesn’t lack is confidence that she knows all the answers for everyone.
Of course drunks are pretty confident in their ability to handle guns and cars. And teenagers have all the answers, just ask them.
One word: Millstone.
Pretty tame stuff compared to queers entering grade schools to market their deviance to kids as young as 1st grade.
Ignore the first part of my last comment. I had thought lady luck was posting that to you.
Like I’ve said, I’ve bumped heads with her before on this subject.
People express opinions on forums like this. Too bad you have trouble with that. How many opinions does it take, or how strongly held, before you call them “know-it-alls?”
That’s a rhetorical question, by the way. You needn’t answer. But if you do, I can live with it. :)
By the way, when you mention someone, a courtesy ping is — well, courteous.
In my opinion.
To bad you have trouble accepting people don’t agree with you.
Knows it all: a personal who believes they knows everything. Oxford dictionary. Glad I could help you with that one.
then there's hope ... you're just over half way to 69
Gee, maybe I should quit posting here. Anything I write might offend you and betray me as a know-it-all! Are you for real, LF?
Why should I water down my opinions, or suppress them, for your tender nerves?
Don’t you see it’s you who have trouble accepting people who don’t agree with you?
“My guess” is that you believe you’re some type of oracle who can’t just accept that they just might be wrong.
So...you just keep upping the ante. Now, I’m not only “stupid”, I’m “ignorant”.
“My guess” is that you don’t know half of what you think you do sport.
IOW, “you have no idea” what goes on in our son’s school, and you’re talking out of your a$$.
Are you in your son’s school, every day, every hour? Do you know the background and philosophy of every teacher there?
What’s funny to me is that instead of saying, “hey, that’s great”! I get called everything but a child abuser.
That’s a hell of a lot different than having a difference of opinion as some here are calling it.
Unless you are having fun with the guy, you might want to drop it. there are some real know it alls on this thread who think they know better than you how to raise your children.
They remind me of the quote that goes something like this, “better to be ruled by robber barons than by those whow are well meaning busybodies.”
There are some “conservative” busybodies here, who are just as bad as liberals in their self-assurance.
