The peace is shattered in an airplane by a five-year-old boy who picks the moment after the plane has taken off to throw a wild temper tantrum. No matter what his frustrated, embarrassed mother does to try to calm him down, the boy continues to scream furiously and kick the seats around him.
Suddenly, from the rear of the plane, a man in a Marine uniform is seen slowly walking forward up the aisle. Stopping the flustered mother with an upraised hand, the courtly, soft-spoken Marine leans down and, motioning toward his chest, whispers something into the boy's ear.
Instantly, the boy calms down, gently takes his mother's hand, and quietly fastens his seat belt. All the other passengers burst into spontaneous applause.
As the Marine slowly makes his way back to his seat, one of the cabin attendants touches his sleeve. "Excuse me, sir," she asks quietly, "but could I ask you what magic words you used on that little boy?"
The Marine smiles serenely and gently confides, "I showed him my pilot's wings, service stars, and battle ribbons, and explained that they entitle me to throw one passenger out the plane door on any flight I choose."

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon ground cloves 4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice 1 pinch cardamom (optional) 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 4 eggs 2 cups sugar 2 cups pumpkin 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil 8 ounces cream cheese chopped pumpkin seeds (optional) or walnuts (optional) or pecans (optional)
Directions:
1 Preheat oven to 350. 2 Put the entire brick of cream cheese on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper and shape it into a long log. 3 Put it in the freezer while you mix and fill the pans, up to an hour. 4 Unwrap and cut with a sharp knife so each cream cheese disk equals 1-2 teaspoons. If the cream cheese disks are too big around, cut thick slices and then cut them in half. This lets you push it down into the batter easier. 5 Mix all ingredients together (except cream cheese and nuts). 6 Fill muffin tins (greased or paper cups) half full. 7 Put cream cheese disc in the middle, pressing down. 8 Sprinkle with 1 tsp chopped nuts. 9 Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean from the muffin part (do not touch the cream cheese!). 10 Let cool in pans for 5 minutes, then remove to racks to cool completely. Do not touch the cream cheese until it cools. Makes 24 muffins

This is not PC but it's sure politically accurate....
A woman from Los Angeles who was a tree hugger, a liberal Democrat, and an anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland near Colville , WA .
There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted a good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started to climb the big tree. As she neared the top she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her. In her haste to escape, the woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her crotch. (ouch!) In considerable pain, she hurried to a local ER to see a doctor.
She told him she was an environmentalist, a democrat, and an anti-hunter and how she came to get all the splinters. The doctor listened to her story with great patience and then told her to go wait in the examining room and he would see if he could help her.
She sat and waited three hours before the doctor reappeared. The angry woman demanded, "What took you so long?" He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a "recreational area" so close to a waste treatment facility. I'm sorry, but due to Obama-Care they turned you down!"

My Fingernails Or His Hand?
October 20, 2011
Tough times can cause us to get our perspective turned around. I was reminded of this recently as I talked to a fellow-grieveranother parent who, like Sue and me, lost a teenage daughter to death suddenly and without warning.
She told me she had been missing her daughter terribly, and she told God she felt as if she were hanging on by her fingernails. Then she felt as if God reminded her that His hand of protection was there to hold her upthat she could let go, and He would catch her.
Thats a better perspective, isnt it? This picture reminds us that when troubles come and we feel least able to hold on to our faith, its not up to us. Its up to God to support us with His mighty hand.
Psalm 37:23-24 says: The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord . . . . Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. And Psalm 63:8 tells us: My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.
In tough times, we can become so preoccupied with our role in clinging to God that we forget about His promised protection. Its not our fingernails that sustain usits His loving, upholding hand.
Gods hand that holds the oceans depths
Can hold my small affairs;
His hand that guides the universe,
Can carry all my cares. Anon.
No one is more secure than the one who is held in Gods hand.
Read: Psalm 37:23-26

So far so good.. diet is a 4-letter word tho.
No new electronic devices to figure out,
the bills are paid,
no weeds to pull,
We got Talladega this week-end.
Yeah, progressing pretty well. ;-)
Hope your week goes well too!

I am off to the Lazy Boy store. I have been tasked with finding 2 chairs, recliners probably, to replace a couch in the living room....and preferably by next Wednesday.
Not too big, and fairly easy to get out of...so, I am off. Back in a little bit.
People without good functioning knees cannot get up from the couch very well. And he who sits in the middle can’t get up hardly at all.
