Poll: Two-thirds of Republicans say minds are not made up

Las Vegas, Nevada— One day before a CNN Western Republican presidential debate, a new national survey indicates that Mitt Romney and Herman Cain are essentially tied for the lead in the race for the GOP nomination, with Rick Perry dropping to a distant third.

.....According to the poll [CNN/ORC International Poll], only one third of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say they will definitely support the candidate they are currently backing, with two thirds saying they may change their minds.

"With only 33% of all Republicans saying that their minds are made up, it's far too early to say the race is over, or even that is has boiled down to a mano-a-mano fight between Romney and Cain," says Holland.

The survey indicates that most Republicans say they are satisfied with the field of GOP candidates still in the race, although only one in five describe themselves as very satisfied. Republicans who back the tea party are more satisfied with the field of candidates than Republicans who are neutral toward the tea party.

Good.. considering the race is still wide open and late arrivals may still pop up.. and this is also indicative of how lukewarm most are to the offerings of the candidates. Bang up Job, GOP. real bangup..

My mind is not made up, although under no circumstance would I vote for either of the Romney/Perry twins.

I still hope for Jan Brewer to get in the race but I can live with Herman Cain.

On Oct 17th, 2008, Giuliani led in the polls with Thompson in second, McCain remained a distant third.

People tend to forget how early this really still is in selecting a candidate.

I have made up my mind about one thing... the republican leadership is every bit as dangerous to Freedom and Liberty as the dim leadership is.

Yep never forget how Howard Dean was leading the Pack of Democrats in 04 and presumed the future nominee until Iowa shut him down and we heard the Dean Scream. Hell it wasn’t 2 months ago that Perry was leading the polls and look where he is now. The front runner gets the flak and in Cain’s case he needs the vetting. Cain may hold on but with the race still fluid he may well slip and wash out also.

Oh don’t foget how Dewey won....

Weren’t you just a couple of weeks ago saying that Palin would be our nominee? I have no clue who it will be. These polls are up and down like a see saw.

My candidate is ‘None of the Above’, and barring a dark horse or 3rd party candidate of note, I am sure that is how I will be voting.

That 2/3 of the voters are vacillating shows that there is no candidate that can provide what the voters want. It is an exceptionally poor field.

The candidates aren't getting any money, either.

I was prepared to give a LOT of money to a certain candidate, but I will give nothing to the current field.

And nothing to the RNC/Karl Rove, it goes without sayin.

Poll is pure bovine waste, 1007 adults and 416 republicans and independents. Cnn trying to pick who runs against the one. It is silly that anything that is so far off other national polls would be anything other than a joke.

I said Palin would be our nominee IF she chose to run. I said that going back to November 2008. And since she chose not to...

I know you harbor a bizarre, pathological hatred of Herman Cain, the most viable Conservative in the race, but he has gotten most of the Palin supporters and those that woke up to the fact that La Raza Rick was a phony.

I don’t particularly care for Herman Cain.

He has some negatives that annoy me and others that scare me.

I am most frightened of how he would fare in the general election.

However, the term ‘bizarre, pathological hatred’ is far more applicable to the people who hate Perry.

Get on some of the Perry threads, indicate a support for Perry and wait. You will see bizarre, pathological hatred within seconds.
