SHOCK POLL: Herman Cain Leads GOP Nationally! (PPP Poll has Romney trailing by 8 points)
Business Insider ^ | 10/12/2011 | Zeke Miller

Posted on 10/12/2011 12:37:00 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Businessman Herman Cain has risen to the top of a national poll of Republican primary voters, upending the GOP field yet again this cycle.

Cain has the support of 30 percent of Republicans in the Public Policy Polling survey, trailed by Mitt Romney at 22 percent, Newt Gingrich at 15 percent, and Rick Perry at 14 percent. Cain is also the second choice of 24 percent of those polled — the highest of any candidate.

In a two-person race, Romney would lead Perry 48-38, Cain would lead Romney 48-36, and Cain would destroy Perry 55-27.

The poll was conducted before last night's Washington Post-Bloomberg debate, in which Cain alienated some members of the tea party (his largest constituency) by saying he admired Alan Greenspan's leadership of the Federal Reserve.

PPP has a checkered history with polling — and this poll has a VERY large 4.5 percent margin of error — so don't read too much into this just yet.

Except that when it comes to global warming, Newt and Biden are on the same page.

Somebody needs to cue up that TV ad of Newtie and Nancy Pelosi together on the loveseat telling us that global warming is our fault and that we should support [expensive boondoggle] programs to mitigate it.

The Establishment Republicans have decided to ram Romney down our throats, though. Even though we DESPISE him!

God help us.

Agree! And I might add that we were told on another thread yesterday that Cain’s “expertise” was delivering pizzas! These people are positively ignorant and disingenuous. At best.

Again, very well said. I do hope America is up to the challenge - but celebrating American principles has been replaced with America-bashing in many schools.

I remember some things my great and and uncle told me. They always seemed very demanding, and seemed to think I was somewhat “soft” and “frivolous.” As I grew, I did come to understand them more. And I certainly can appreciate their character and opinions today!

Sales tax works best with no exemptions at all. If you exempt food and gas, what happens is that this distorts the market in favor of both. Demand for food and gas is inelastic. Decreasing the price won’t have the concamitant increase in demand. Producers will shift to food and gas until there is an oversupply.

I like HC as a person...but not a fan of his “9-9-9” plan so far, (not enough detail here: http://www.hermancain.com/999plan ) He wants to move to the “Fair” Tax after 9-9-9, and I am definitely not a fan of that!!

WELL said Sam, BRAVO! It really galls me when ignorant people who are either too lazy to do some basic research, or deliberately choose to remain ignorant, think that their uninformed opinions are worth anything more than, well vomit.

Career politicians are what got America into the mess we're in today, career politicians who go to Washington and decide that it is more profitable for them to cozy up to their 'dear friends' on the other side of the aisle, make deals in the shadows with a wink and nudge, and We The People get screwed.

We saw in 2008 the fake harvest resulting from the leftists and liars [but alas, I am redundant] selling the voters a bill of goods, empty promises, and vacuous rhetoric. All of the know-nothings took the dangled bait by the 'Rats and their media accomplices hook, line and sinker, and 3+ years later they are discovering the reality of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

0bama and his treasonous enablers had one objective, and one objective only even today, which is to destroy what is left of the Constitutional Republic that America was intended to be, and institute a socialist/communist system which would establish *AINO*, i.e. "America In Name Only".

But a funny thing happened on the way to their socialist utopia, We The People started waking up, and in our righteous indignation have said to Comrade 0bama and his thugs "WTF are you DOING?" GET OUTTA HERE!".

Herman Cain is destined for greatness and I believe he will be instrumental in the restoration of our great Republic.

+++++++++++++++
Unfortunately true.

But somehow I believe that Newt can be turned on this issue with something like this:

“The more I learn about this supposed consensus the more I’ve come to believe that the whole AGW theory is so full of holes that it would be more than foolish to use it as a basis for making expensive and risky policy decisions” .

Newt could sell that and just move on from there.

Cain has a mile-long list of credentials, education that can be verified as opposed to Obama’s, and tons of high-level corporate experience.

And Obama’s experience was... hmmm... let me see. NOTHING. He never even ran a lemonade stand, and most likely never did an honest day’s work in his life.

Your ignorance is... actually quite shameful.

Thank you and I agree that Herman Cain is destined for greatness. My previous reply was only a rough outline of Cain's accomplishments. Basically in Cain's 64 years, he has performed at the highest levels in multiple fields: Academics, Business, Finance, Banking and Media.

If elected, Cain will be one of the most accomplished men to ever assume the office of President. In my opinion, serving in the U.S. Congress or Senate is not good preparation to hold the office of U.S. President. I agree with the Founding Fathers that public office should be a temporary duty performed by a citizen, serving the people. Not made into a career in which you end up serving only yourself and your cronies. This is why we are dealing with so much corruption and this is why so many people are disgusted with politicians in general.

Maybe term limits will be in our not-too-distant future. How great would THAT be?

I don’t know what link you are referring to

Ohhh, who knows what possible link I could have been referring to?

Well, there were two actually. The one required when you post the article, which shows up in the post just under the title. "Business Insider" in this case". Shows up in red and underlined in my browser.

And at the bottom of the main post if you choose to excerpt. "(Excerpt) Read more at businessinsider.com ...". "businessinsider.com" shows up in red and underlined in my browser.
