The US says it has broken up a major terror plot in which agents linked to Iran sought to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington.
Two men originally from Iran - one a naturalised US citizen - have been charged with counts of conspiracy, Attorney General Eric Holder said.
The plot was "conceived" in Iran by the Quds force, part of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, he added.
The state department has listed Iran as a "state sponsor" of terror since 1984.
Mr Holder described the $1.5m assassination plot as being "conceived, sponsored and directed by Iran", and said Tehran would be held accountable for its alleged involvement.
Top Iranian officials were responsible for the plans, Mr Holder said, adding that the White House would be announcing steps against Iran in the next few hours.
Iran has denied involvement with the plot, and the official Islamic Republic News Agency (Irna) called the plot a "propaganda campaign" by the US government against Tehran.

I guess I got off-message. What I really meant to say is that this whole story and event is trumped-up bullshit.
It's like I always say (and get harassed for it) - trust your gut - the first thing that pops into your head BEFORE you have a chance to think about it and possibly dismiss it. It's usually right, even though you may not be able to logically explain it.
Some call it psychic, some call it instinct, I simply refer to it as trusting your gut. People just know stuff.

Assassinating a credentialed ambassador is not some monkey business.....that’s the big leagues. About the only thing bigger is a head of state.
I’ll be interested to see what President Obama does, if anything. Personally, I’m expecting a most strident reprimand in the form of a strongly-worded diplomatic letter (most likely delivered through the Swiss, as we have no formal diplomatic relations).

It’s just a new way of Iran showing us and the world that we can be attacked at home at anytime they choose. Plus they feel positive that this administration will not retaliate militarily showing us as being weak, divided and stupid. This administration plays politics 24/7 and could care less about our national interest or security. Hilliary's out there now calling this "An Act of War." Really? Why not say this a month ago?
