Perry |
Cain |
---|---|---|
2nd Amendment |
Has a firearm, a CCL, and he uses them. Has a long history of 2nd Amendment support: |
Thinks gun control should be left to the state and local governments placing him at odds with Heller and McDonald. |
Abortion |
Perry signed into law a regulation would have required women seeking an abortion to view a sonogram and listen to the fetus's heartbeat while a doctor rattled off a detailed description of the fetus's anatomical development — and then forcibly ponder their decision for an additional 24 hours before an abortion could be performed. |
Pro-life from conception, pro-life from conception, pro-life from conception.
|
Gay Marriage (note the so-called 'flip-flop' actually serves to showcase Perry's support of the 10th Amendment) |
Rick Perry has signed a pledge to back a federal constitutional amendment against gay marriage – a reversal from a month ago when the Texas governor said he so supported individual states' rights that he was fine with New York's approval of same-sex marriage. |
Supports traditional marriage, support traditional marriage
|
Global Warming / Cap & Trade |
Long history of fighting the EPA as Texas Governor: [The EPA] relied heavily upon findings by climate-change scientists that have been subsequently discredited by the scientists' own e-mails .... |
I don't believe global war-- global warming is real. Do we have climate change? Yes. Is it a crisis, no. And this is why I strongly oppose the-- the cap in trade
|
Red Flags |
Use of a liberal term (“heartless”) while discussing an issue (in-state tuition for residents of non-citizens). |
Use of a liberal term (“insensitive”) in referring to a racial accusation before the facts were revealed. |
Native Texan, here. Stood a few feet away from Perry when he commandeered our first TEA Party in Arlington. He struck me as chameleon-like. Illegal issue is a big fail from him. I stand with Cain, at least for now.
Considering my rather short list, Perry would be “100% Conservative”. I know there are other issues to be considered.
Yep. Let’s train the big guns on Romney first. When he’s out of the race, then we can debate who’s more conservative and a better nominee.
You didn’t contrast their positions on immigration. Any particular reason why you didn’t do that?
Actually, I did, and that bothered me as much as his other answers. He obviously knew that he was supposed to say that he "supported the 2nd Amendment", but the rest of it made me wonder whether he understood the 2nd Amendment.
Being from Texas, I have a different perspective, but to me, "the right ... shall not be infringed" has a very specific meaning.
I understand that it was awkward. He was struggling not to give the media a soundbite to bash him with. In the end, he did flat-out state that he didn’t believe in abortion even in the event of rape.
Anyone who can say “I have not found much substance” in reference to Herman Cain simply loses all credibility.
“I have come to the conclusion that he knows his talking points, but I have not found much substance. “
You mean like when Perry calls social security a ponzi scheme but doesn’t have a plan to deal with the problems?
Please see my post #28
He is learning fast and getting better at managing the press. He learned form the ‘insensitive’ comment.
I am going to congratulate you for the best Rick Perry post for today. No, the week. Thanks!
Rick Perry is absolutely NOT a conservative. His stand on illegal immigration, his paternalistic vaccine mandate, and many other issues show that he’s a statist.
“He is learning fast and getting better at managing the press. He learned form the insensitive comment.”
Fortunately only beltway insiders care about the Sunday morning talk shows. What really counts are the prime time debates.
What happened to the “illegals” catagory?
Look who's spreading misinformation. Of course, I will supply a reference to back it up. Rick Perry does not support amnesty or the DREAM act.
The federal DREAM Act is an amnesty bill, and I strongly oppose amnesty. The Texas educational residency bill was vastly different. -Rick Perry
So you’re acknowledging that Cain is a liberal, are you?
Maybe this will help.
Life, liberty & pursuit of happiness starts with unborn life
The Founding Fathers got it right. The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. That wasn't an accident. Their vision meant that you could pursue happiness in America as long as you don't infringe upon the liberties of somebody else. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don't infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn. Source: , May 1, 2011
Life begins at conception, period
I believe that life begins at conception, period. And that means that I will have to see enough evidence that someone I would appoint shares that same view. I believe that the current Supreme Court is leaning too much to the liberal side.
I'm a Christian, I've been a Christian all my life. I've been a believer in the Bible since I was 10 years old. I'm very active in my church, and there is no way I would compromise my religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. And so it starts with, will they have demonstrated, in some of their other rulings, if they come from the federal judge bench, whether or not they also share that.
Because I believe that the principles that our Founding Fathers cherished, when they founded this country, and wrote the Declaration of Independence which inspired the Constitution, they were based upon biblical principles. I want to get back to those principles as president, if I run and get elected--not rewrite those documents. Source: Interview on the Bryan Fischer radio show , Jan 18, 2011
No IBTZ from me. I think you did just fine.
I am not excited about ANY of our candidates. I had already picked my candidate and she decided to to run.
I will remain supporting “none of the above” for now and I hope to decide sooner rather than later.
Thank you for your post.
