The Working Families Party (WFP) (www.workingfamiliesparty.org) is New York's most energetic, independent and progressive political party. Formed in 1998 by a grassroots coalition of community organizations, neighborhood activists, and labor unions, we came together to build a society that works for all of us, not just Wall Street CEOs and the well-connected. WFP is independent from corporate and government funding and in-addition we are community based; community funded and equally uninfluenced by both major parties. Our agenda focuses on economic and social justice, corporate accountability, job creation, environmental protection, and investment in education and healthcare. For the past twelve years the WFP has been at the fore front of progressive politics,
Leading the fight and helping to frame the debate. The WFP has a proud record of fighting for issues that matter and has been instrumental in implementing key pieces of legislation such as Raising New York's Minimum Wage, Enacting Living Wage Laws, Creating Thousands of Jobs In the Green Economy, Passing Healthcare Reforms on the Local Level, Fighting for Affordable Housing, Keeping Tuition Costs Low, A Progressive Tax Code, Reliable/Cost Effective Public Transit System, Public Financing Of Elections and Corporate Accountability . In addition, we have an unapologetic stance on supporting and pushing good candidates to enact progressive legislation
The WFP is seeking immediate hires.
You must be an energetic communicator, with a passion for social and economic justice.

Thanks, didn’t realize it was just a matter of posting a link. I was thinking there was some fancy way so you could get a thumbnail etc.
If the Tea Party had hired protesters, the MSM would have caught it.
Has ANY Tea Party group paid people for protesting?
MSM, there is no equivalent between these idiots and Tea Partiers.
Where does it say that? I don't see it.
If what you say is true , and I'm sure it is, how much stimulus $$$ went , "to keep teachers working." ? So in reality we the people are paying for our own destruction.
Remember how 0bama was knocking all those people, "out waving tea bags"? I've been to a few Tea Party rallies and NOBODY ever urinated in public, started getting into it with the cops, or ran around in their birthday suit. I don't recall anyone distributing condoms either.
This administration and its so called president is truly vile.
“FIGHT TO HOLD WALLSTREET ACCOUNTABLE NOW! MAKE A DIFFERNENCE GET PAID!”
I have little doubt this leftist org is attending these protests but to say they are hiring "Protesters" at $350-650 a pop is disingenuous, if you ask me.
Sure, they’re involved but are they hiring “protesters” at $350-650 a pop as the thread title erronously quotes (who it’s quoting, I have no idea)?
Call for the job yourself and ask them - you will find out for yourself.
Actually, John Lindsay was a Republican. A liberal one, to be sure, but remember, this is in NYC, so what do you expect?
Just setting the record straight...
CA....
To give you number to chew on, each UFT teacher member pays $98.00 a month in dues. Multiply that by 80,000 teachers. There are about 30,000 other titles who pay less, but in the $40-45 a month range. In addition campaigns are run to raise COPE funds specifically for political uses.
I remember COPE, I guess it cuts across all unions. In the IBEW many locals ask you if you want to "contribute" $3.00 /week for COPE. The implication being if you don't then you don't work. Now the amount is nothing, it's just the fact that you're being coerced to contribute to people who's views you oppose. I thought this was something peculiar to the trade unions, I see I was mistaken.
Sounds to me like These People have VIOLATED NUMEROUS Labor Laws with regards to Employment, where is the Local Labor Boards. There is plenty of evidence already, should be enough to BANKRUPT every last EMPLOYER of these Buffoons. If I am not mistaken, ANY RESIDENT can file a complaint regarding the BLATANT VIOLATION OF LABOR LAWS .
I know.
Dress in a Che t-shirt, look scruffy, and then muscle into every TV interview screaming, “DEATH TO THE BOURGEOISIE! DEATH TO THE CAPITALISTS! ITBACH AL-YAHUD!”
And then lunge after the newscaster while the camera is rolling.
That’d do wonders for the OWS crowd.
Heh heh heh!
They played an important role in the late 1800s and early 1900s, but have been detrimental since the 50s.
They have a role to play but not the one they play now
“They have a role to play but not the one they play now “
I think they’ve abused their role so badly that they must be banned. If workers want to have an association, that’s fine - they can get together and talk about work. But NO MORE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. They’ve made wastelands out of huge portions of this country...enough is enough.
how to manage it is a problem, I agree
Public sector -- no, they are public servants so no collective bargaining. Teachers should not be on the government payrolls imho. Only defense, internal law and order and regulations
