It was never a comforting thought to think the Attorney General just cant be bothered to read his weekly briefings, but it was at least plausible to think Eric Holder overlooked one or two memos about the pernicious and fatal Fast and Furious program. But make that five memos and the AGs incompetence and negligence appear especially gross:
Senator Chuck Grassley and Congressman Darrell Issa today said that Attorney General Eric Holder received at least five weekly memos beginning in July 2010, including four weeks in a row, describing the ill-advised strategy known as Operation Fast and Furious. The memos were to Holder from Michael Walther, the director of the National Drug Intelligence Center. As Sen. Chuck Grassley said, given the amount of information Holder had at his disposal, he should have thought to at least ask the question, Why havent we stopped them? The Attorney General told Issa during a House Judiciary Committee in May 2011 that he had just learned of Fast and Furious a few weeks before. Yet, on January 31, in a previously scheduled meeting, Grassley personally handed him two letters about Fast and Furious. Grassley and Issa said they find it very troubling that Holder actually knew of Operation Fast and Furious much earlier, and in greater detail than he ever let on.
The memos specifically said that the straw buyers were responsible for the purchase of 1500 firearms that were then supplied to Mexican drug trafficking cartels.
The president said it well today in his press conference: I think both Holder and I would have been very unhappy if someone had suggested that guns were allowed to pass through that could have been prevented by the United States of America.
OK, so someone did suggest to Holder that guns were allowed to walk and Holder either overlooked the tip (as he claims, but for which he has no excuse) or didnt care. Either way, he proves the presidents supposition wrong. Whether he was ignorant of or indifferent to the memos, the AGs lack of concern is disturbing.
Very likely Holder realized that they were creating a paper trail and asked that they stop.
Gunwalker ping.
Its Orange Jump Suit Time in DC.
I am afraid that the Democrats will use this to force Obama to decide not to run and put Hillary in instead.
Awww he was in the room with the memo’s but he never heard anything about Fast and Furious. Sheesh, don’tcha remember, in this administration you can sit in church for 20 years, and ne’r hear a discouraging word. /s
The CBS reporter says she has more Memo’s.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....can someone refresh my memory as to just why John Ashcroft had to step down as Attorney General?
If these guys are voted out, and the R's get control of it all, these guys are facing slammer time.
Cornered rats do desperate things.
FYI
Ignore my last ping. LOL

How long before the leftoid media instructs us that it is racist to question Holder’s truthfulness?
Check the date and contents of this Holder speech;
Attorney General Eric Holder at the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference
CUERNAVACA, MEXICO ~ Thursday, April 2, 2009
Remarks as prepared for delivery.
First, let me express my thanks to Attorney General Medina Mora and Secretary of Government Gomez Mont for making this conference possible.
This is my first trip to another country as Attorney General. I wanted to come to Mexico to deliver a single message: We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in this fight against the narcotics cartels. The United States shares responsibility for this problem and we will take responsibility by joining our Mexican counterparts in every step of this fight.
And, together, we will win thanks in large part to the courage of my Mexican colleagues here today, who are on the front lines every day, and with whom I am proud to collaborate.
The topic that has been addressed over the past two days could not be more important the development of an arms trafficking prosecution and enforcement strategy on both sides of the border.
I would like to thank the Mexican and U.S. experts who have worked so hard on this issue. On our side, Secretary Napolitano and I are committed to putting the resources in place to increase our attack on arms trafficking into Mexico.
Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail.
The president said it well today in his press conference: I think both Holder and I would have been very unhappy if someone had suggested that guns were allowed to pass through that could have been prevented by the United States of America.
Was Obama looking over the top of his matronly half-reading glasses as he sat at the principal’s desk when he was scolding? Don’t you DARE suggest me and my boy did something wrong.
Obum Regime’s startin’ to smoulder
And they got to watch over their shoulder
Hot potato of shame
Where is the blame?
In Obama or just in his Holder?

Sort of puts a different perspective on the intelligence briefing that W allegedly ignored in the summer of 2001.
And Holder’s body count may very well eclipse that of 9/11. Not that he cares, since most of them are Mexicans.
