As you've surely noticed, the Occupy Wall Street Protestors have taken things to another level in the past couple of days.
Hundreds have been arrested. They have the power of unions behind them now, which has drawn thousands to protest with them and gotten the attention of big media outlets. And there are two separate movements growing within the protestors.
The youth behind the original movement are organized into factions or committees, including legal, medical, and finance, and they are pulling away from association with the union protest movement now. The people behind the original movement recognize that their strength is in their youth, and we found little evidence to confirm reports that they're not organized.
They now have $40,000 in the bank, in an account at Amalgamated Bank.
"At first, Victoria [Sobel, one of the movement's unofficial leaders] was sleeping with $10,000 in the park," says Darrell Prince, who works on the finance team. He and others on the team wear a gold "$" sign as an elbow patch to identify themselves.
"We've collected $40,000 from donations and buckets on the street," Prince says, and "the money is really going to start rolling in now."
So far, the money has come primarily from three buckets on the street...

So, club THEM first and take their money! LOL!
How portable toilets can one rent for $40,000.00?
And what about getting some soap and deodorant while we’re at it?
Things are really going to start happening now!
So, let me get this straight...they are against banks but have 40,000 and counting in a bank? And the stupid bank has set up a way to donate to them? I’m scratching my head on this one...
Without Wall Street, where will they invest it?
I smell a theft in the making...
Amalgamated Bank is wholly-owned by the radical umbrella union UNITE HERE, associated with SEIU and the Teamsters.
So I'm not sure how banking with the union protest movement is "pulling away from association with the union protest movement."
A more up-close and personal distinction between the producers and the takers than most.
What happens when the producers have finally had enough and go off-shore?
See post 10. It should answer your questions.
Dig a whole, under the rock next to the tree... no, No, NO-don’t piss there.
Mayor Bloomberg, what did you know when did you know it?
Mayor Bloomberg, what did you know when did you know it?
Why do they need money?
They are comparing themselves to the TEA Party movement...and I don’t recall needing a bank account to attend a rally.
These people have a self-imposed helplessness...they can’t function, unless somebody else donates money to them.
Maybe they are using this as a way to funnel campaign donations to Obama? I’ve heard he is not doing so well lately... Just a thought.
They’ve got money in the bank???!!!
I guess they don’t see the hypocrisy in that do they?
How much of that spare change collected was Obamaland unemployment dough or other type of Govt. “assistance”?
Forget the soap they need airdrops of green crackers and people-eating bulldozers ... .
Hate to break it to the mellowed-out hippies who came up with this idea, but your movement has been officially hijacked.
The Left has seized upon this as the tool that they are going to try and use to break Capitalism in this country. And yes, the cash is now going to start pouring in from all the usual suspects.
