With Sarah out, which conservative candidate has the best shot of knocking out Romney and Obama?
vanity poll | Oct 5, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 10/05/2011 5:06:47 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

My personal favorites are:

1) Bachmann

2) Cain

3) perry

Cannot get excited about Gingrich or Santorum.

I’m going to vote in my state’s primary for the candidate that best represents me. Andcome election day, I will do the same. Political party be d@#ned. I am a Republican because they tend to offer up candidates more in line with my beliefs.

That does not grant them ownership of my vote. If it turns out that the Republican party selects a candidate thatdoesn’t best represent me, I am not going to vote for him.

And if it happens again and again, I’ll look for a new party.

I learned that in the 2006 elections and the 2008 elections reconfirmed it. I thought the Republicans might have learned in the 2010 elections... and we’ll see in 2012.

Well, I'm not excited about ANY of them. My #1 requirement is experience with Congress, because I think the Congress might be recalcitrant, either sooner or later. Therefore my first two choices would be Gingrich and Bachmann. Gingrich first because he's got a better track record as effective in the legislature. Bachmann is tireless, hard-working -- but not so good at results. Both of them occasionally malfunction like old Coke machines, unexpectedly foaming all over the floor.

Perry leaves me even colder, but ten years running Texas isn't easy to dismiss. I'm ok with voting for Perry. Furthermore, he's solidly pro-life and that counts for a lot. He was clumsy about Gardasil but how I wish Jeb had been as ham-fisted when Terri Schiavo needed a governor to intrude where some said he didn't belong.

In the first debate, Santorum spent the whole night looking like he'd swallowed a live squid. I don't know why he's even running if it makes him that queasy.

That leaves Romney. Now I'm queasy. We might as well let Obama take it and the revolution begin.

Cain will be handled by the media according to the same playbook they used to deal with Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin, Ross Perot, Clarence Thomas, and Robert Bork. (I add Perot to that list because “businessman” is a dirty word nowadays, and they’ll make sure everyone hears it constantly.) He will also be linked repeatedly to the word “cancer.” Endless speculation about his health and his prospects. He may be the best conservative and a breath of fresh air but he lacks political experience and regards the presidency as an entry level position. Very little campaign experience. I’m in the minority here, but I just can’t take his candidacy seriously.

Best shot at defeating Romney? That would be Perry...if he can just control that slack-twisted tongue of his.
I don’t need a perfect candidate, at this point. So Perry’s a little soft-headed sometimes. That just means that when WE apply pressure, he’ll give in like Bush on Harriet Miers.
Newt’s more conservative and smarter, but I don’t think Newt will ever catch on. Perry’s younger, and still on his first wife.
But please, Gov. Perry, rehearse a little next time.

Romney is the most conservative candidate in the race. He will win the nomination and go on to win the General Election.

That's the funniest damn thing I've seen on here in a long time.

Let me guess, you're hoping he picks Rudy as his running mate.

Zevonismymuse just accused me of not supporting Romney because I supposedly hate Mormons.

Leads me to believe Zevonismymuse doesn’t support Obama because he’s black. Same convoluted liberal logic.

I remember four years ago when there were a bunch of RINOs on here pushing Rudy.

Neither I nor the other conservative Catholics EVER made a suggestion that you were zotting the Rooty Rooters because he was Catholic.

If Mormons want to support Romney because he's Mormon they should just say so and if the big government, pro-homosexual, pro-abortion crowd want to support Romney because he's one of them they should just say so. But it's insulting to this forum for the Mittbots to claim that there is ANYTHING conservative about him.

Mitt gave the sacred code signal "poisonous language" for the mormons to go to battle, and I predict a flood of poison similar that in '08 from them towards anyone who opposes Romney..as you have seen. Hope you have the Zot button handy.

If the GOP picks Romney, he will lose in a huge giant tsunami of a loss. The only way he wouldn’t is if there is a third party run. I can only assume the elitist GOPers want a Dem win by this Romneypuke pushing.

Are freaking kidding me? There is nothing conservative about Romney. He supports man made global warming, homosexual agenda, abortion, government run health care, higher taxes, big government.
In what universe are you living that you think in anyway whatsoever that Romney is a conservative?

Agreed. Imho, he would lose the south and most of the west.

To all of those who believe he's the only one who can win, I say he's the only one who has no chance of winning! So if that's your reason for planning to vote for him, you can put it aside.
