A Newsmax/InsiderAdvantage poll shows businessman and radio talk-host Herman Cain now leading former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among likely GOP primary voters in the fight for the 2012 Republican nomination. The exclusive poll, taken in the past 24 hours, shows Cain vaulting Romney 26 percent to 24 percent. The poll has a margin of error of 4.4 percent. Several other polls show similar results, establishing Cain as the new grass-roots frontrunner deadlocked with Romney, the establishment Republican choice. A new CBS poll showed Cain and Romney deadlocked, with each candidate garnering 17 percent of the vote. And a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows Romney leading Cain 22 percent to 17 percent a statistical tie due to the polls margin of error.

I am a young conservative, so please educate me, as i may be ignorant or misinformed on the workings of taxes... I'm not an accountant and I don't play one on TV.
The 9% would indeed be in addition to existing local and state taxes. Sales tax is currently 9.75% where I live so an additional 9% would take it up to 18.5%. But with the elimination of payroll tax and replacing it with a 9% national sales tax I could, technically, pay far less taxes until which time I make a purchase then I pay a higher tax for that purchase.
He fits the bill as an actual Conservative on every issue. With some luck Palin and the entire Tea Party movement will get behind him.
Otherwise its check-pants business as usual.
I dont have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated, to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration, Cain said. Dont blame Wall Street, dont blame the big banks if you dont have a job and you are not rich, blame yourself!
Bad move, Cain has now given up on the argument that government is to blame. If I’m personally at blame for not having enough money or or not having a job then it most certainly can’t be the fault of the government.
Please add me to your Herman Cain ping list.
Thanks!
Smart man, well spoken, successful, entrepreneur , leadership skills. A man with a plan 999.

It’s true that the sales tax will be higher but it will put pressure on politicians on the fed, state and local levels to resist the urge to increase taxes.
More people will have “skin in the game”.
But in the end, running the numbers for most people, they come out ahead, even if they are paying $115 instead of $106.00 (or whatever) for a given item.
This is retail only on new items, I believe. There still need to be some details, it’s only a proposal and obviously would have to win many supporters to be implemented.
While I partly agree with what Cain said, he should be careful. Remember Sharron Angle telling NV unemployed voters that they are "spoiled?" Reagan had a way of communicating without being unintentionally abrasive.
I can’t find signs so I used white shoe Polish on the back window of my SUV. I have received a few honks and thumbs up.

Where is everyone getting their signs?
So we are in conclusion that this 9% national sales tax that Cain wants to implement would be bad. Basically, it’s a double or even triple tax that just covers the eliminated payroll tax. I say... RUN, PALIN, RUN!!!
“Where is everyone getting their signs?”
Donna,,,, I don’t know, but would like to know!
All purchases go to the campaign. I'm placing another order tonight ... I need more signs!
To understand more about the sales tax portion, please see www.fairtax.org. It is a common misconception that a national sales tax would make things cost more.
When you buy a product part of the cost of that product is the corporate taxes passed along to the consumer. Cain’s plan takes the corporate tax from the 30s to 9%. Those costs are passed along to the consumer in a cheaper product. The cost savings of the product offset the 9% sales tax.
Other aspects of Cain’s plans (deregulation, 0 tax on repatriated profits) will also make corporations competitive again in OUR country, which will further drive down costs and create jobs. One economist has already said the plan would cut unemployment in half.
And there will be NO tax on used goods, so there is a way to save and the choice is yours.
I know scoring of the plan is coming, and I am confident it will be good.
As for these rates changing - this is a 1-2 year transition to the Fair Tax, and the 999 rates would require 2/3 majority to change. AND, because everyone pays, not just the wealthy, there will be huge pressure on Congress NOT to touch those rates.
All in all, this gives the people much more control over Congress’ manipulation of the tax code.
I’m not in conclusion that it would be bad. I pay 40+% payroll tax on what I earn. If that were eliminated I would and could easily be in the black if I had to pay 18.75% sales tax ONLY when I made a purchase.
I see says the blind man!
