Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading
The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.
As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palins campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.
The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

Humility is a very positive trait my friend! That's why we regard you in such high esteem.
Well that’s just great. Who knows, tho...she may even lurk here or is a member. If she is......*waves hi*
Now boss, why would you say that? :-). I merely meant that ANYONE with an inkling to run for the office would naturally have taken such a step...for Politico to run this fact like it is “news” is not really a surprise, is it?
Heck, I bet even Hitlery has had a friend of a friend check those dates...
A couple days ago Cain said he would be happy to be VP.
I like the sound of Palin/Cain. Don’t you?
Thank you so much Jim :-)
Thank you very much, Gov’nor Palin. And the FReepers love you too.

Amen to that ~
Sounds kind of heroic don't it?
JimRob to foreign tourist: “Ever heard of Free Republic? I founded it!”
“My what a noble sounding nation, you must be very proud!”
A lot of us have been saving our nickles for Palin. I know the economy has hit me and a lot of Freepers hard, but this will be do or die time.
Oops, it was probably, “the founder of freerepublic.com.”
She is going speak at a prestigious world economic forum in South Korea on October 11 (The New Economic Crisis: Reforming Global Leadership & Asia's Challenge) and shares the program with some heavy hitters (and libs) such as Larry Summers, Strobe Tallbot, Gordon Brown and others whose affiliation I don't know. She's the first speaker after the introduction and is scheduled for an hour (unlike the others who were given 40 or 50 minutes).
I very much doubt she will announce before then as she does not want her message there to be taken as a political campaign speech, which it would be if she was an announced candidate.
Occasionally naysayers will put up an old Peanuts cartoon about Linus and others waiting for the Great Pumpkin. As 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in Seoul is 8:00 p.m. Monday in New York, I've put up this tease in response:
What date is she going to announce?? Well, I can't answer that but be assured I will be watching for her at 8 p.m. EDT next Monday. It's the night before a full moon and she just might appear. You betcha!
(and on that day, lots of others will be watching for her too!)
[She may not have the big Mitt or Perry machines backing her]
Mitt spent boocoo bucks for each vote he got the last time around, so I don’t think money is Palin’s problem, everyone knows what she is doing. More like the MSM and insider GOP is who she is fighting, and she has different techniques for handling them.
<<<$$$
Someone is watching out for Sarah. She will do just fine.
I agree..the establishment RINOs in the GOP will never support her and I bet she is glad that they won’t. Screw them, I wouldnt want the likes of Dana Perino supporting her anyway, she has US backing her which is good enough. She has my full support. She is my first choice and will always be my first choice unless she decides not to run
So what exactly would be wrong with a beautiful, smart, savvy, gutsy, very conservative President for a delightful change ? !
(if this was reuters' idea of a 'gotcha', they failed marvelously !)
