Rick Perrry garners support among Ultra-Orthodox Jews

[Can't say if I'll vote for Perry but hope Jewish voters understand that Obama is not their friend.]

It could have been an awkward moment even for a seasoned politician like Texas Governor Rick Perry. Surrounded by a group of Orthodox rabbis in black hats and black suits during a Hanukkah ceremony at the Texas State Capitol, Perry, now a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination, was swept into a hora dance, holding hands with the Jewish leaders as they surrounded the lighted menorah. But Perry did not seem to mind. “That was a real ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” he said jokingly.

“The whole atmosphere was very warm, and we all felt very comfortable,” said ceremony leader Rabbi Shimon Lazaroff, regional director of Chabad in Texas. Perry, who wears his Christian beliefs on his sleeve, had been making friends in the Orthodox Jewish community even before entering the presidential race. Now he has intensified these efforts, winning early support from the activists on the conservative end of the Jewish political spectrum.

In fact, Perry’s Jewish backers are mainly Orthodox. And in attitude, many resemble the type of voters that caused a political sensation in August by helping to hand New York’s 9th Congressional District over to the Republican Party. For these Jewish voters, the charismatic governor’s alignment with Israel’s right wing and his conservative values make him an ideal candidate.

“He’s not one of those who call themselves friends of Israel but view that as an excuse to twist Israel’s arm,” said Jeff Ballabon, a media executive and public relations expert who was a major player in helping then president George W. Bush make inroads to the Orthodox Jewish community. “He recognizes that Israel exists under constant pressure and that true friendship is to give Israel support...

That’s one of the few things I like about Rick Perry.... He is Pro-Israel.

Obama figures all he has to do is give a speech to a Jewish group, make himself sound like Jackie Mason (hey, talkin’ urban-ish to the CBC group worked!), and he’s in like Flint!

Perry IS a friend to Israel. You should read more about him and his award from Israel and his trip there and his work he has done with business connection with Israel and Texas. Perry would be great as President and would never disrespect our friendship with Israel. Plus you should hear or read Perry's comments on how badly Obama has treated Israel.

You don't like Perry, fine. But at least be honest about Perry.

Do those Jews know that Slick Rick has stated that the hate cult of Islam is a "great religion" on a par with Christianity and Judaism?

People better do their homework on Slick Rick. He is another hack politician, a sociopathic con-artist who pretends to be everybody's friend.

Actually, I can only find one issue I have serious disagreement with Perry, immigration, where he isn’t as bad as a lot of folks claim. He’s not for “open borders” or “amnesty”. But here’s a short list of things to like about Perry...

1. Pro-gun.

2. Pro-life.

3. Pro death penalty.

4. Global warming skeptic.

5. Pro-military veteran.

6. Pro-drilling.

7. Pro-business, regulatory reform.

8. Has the guts to call Social Security what it is.

9. Strong on 10th ammendment, limited Federal government.

I will say this one more time. You are going to be SHOCKED at the Jewish turnout voting Republican next year. Unprecedented. I do not know where Obama’s support is anymore. That is why I do not think he will be the candidate, and then we have to be afraid.

I thought the speech Perry gave in New York about Israel was fantastic, while Obama was at the UN giving his why-can’t-we-all-just-get-along speech. The thing I like about Perry is the strength of his convictions when comes to issues like Israel, he doesn’t back down.

I like your short-list! I tried to come up with a short list and it ended up being way too long. You’ve narrowed it down exactly.

I like a lot of things about Perry. He just has to work on the things that he needs to work on.

“Do those Jews know that Slick Rick has stated that the hate cult of Islam is a “great religion” on a par with Christianity and Judaism?”

next you’ll claim Perry’s middle name is Mohammad and that he grew up in Saudi Arabia and was a member of Fred Phelps’ church for 20 years. He’s a normal Christian Texas dude, not another Obama.

Until recent decades, Christianity had so concentrated upon gentile believers in God that the literal race of Israel — which inconveniently for them refused to disappear — had become less than a vestige in its thought. Today, an at least arguably biblical theology concerning Christendom and Israel has been rebuilt virtually from scratch in some very devout evangelical circles. And modern Jews in Israel are very much the beneficiaries of this new positive attention from Christendom.

Amil Imani Governor Perry's Islam Connection ………”No matter how I tried, I couldn't reach the conclusion that this inclusion promotes Islam or is pro-Sharia. It seems that the mere fact that Islam is included in the curriculum represents supporting it. And with regard to the concern that the education curriculum Perry promoted is pro-Arab and against Israel, the evidence is exactly the opposite. The lesson on Israel reads: …”
