Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading
The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.
As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palins campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.
It wouldnt be the first time that her representatives have sought information on the deadlines marking the ever-shifting GOP calendar.
The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

That works both ways, huckleberry.
How ironic. You went to Hawaii, but it was the rest of us who got the vacation.
Rogue meets Rules..........like..........like, er,............anybody else? No coronation and stuff? What next? An icky campaign? Corrupt fund raising? Questionable endorsements? EEK! Media Meanies and stuff, too? The horror!
IF Sarah does jump in...Cain is out.
Oh look who it is!!! It’s RitaOK! Didn’t you write me a PM telling me you were soooo over Palin and don’t even bother to go on her threads anymore? Don’t break your word now!
Mark Braden is one of the top election lawyers in the country.
She's not running. She's not running. Noooeeesss.
Ping to the list! If anyone wants to join the TODD PALIN IS A HUNK! ping list, please let me know. I really really want a Palin-Cain ticket.
Palin is sending legal notices to Random House that threaten to sue, she has attornies sniffing around state election offices ... is her campaign going to be sponsored by the American Bar Association?
She did make a lot of lawyers a lot of money in Alaska.
So, what Todd is saying is that Sarah isn’t a barracuda or a mama grizzly, she’s a honey badger.
I’m OK with that.
A serious candidate would make sure it’s done correctly.
This is encouraging to me might mean Game On!!
A serious candidate wouldn’t ponder if he/she could impact more change in America as President, or as a paid speaker/media member/book pusher.
Duh. She’s running.
That’s like saying the liberal media made Palin a lot of money.
Maybe, but the article doesn't exactly spell out when these phone calls happened.
Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck together on the same stage.

Boy - talk about your “crony capitalism”. Getting her picture taken with her husband, who is wearing a TESORO jacket! What a hypocrite.
(I think one of her many lawsuits WAS for her wearing a jacket with a logo on it! Palin won, just like all the other silly lawsuits.)
