My Open Letter to Morgan Freeman

I am so disappointed in your accusations against the Tea Party. I can undertsand disagreeing politically, but to stoop to calling the Tea Party racist is very, very beneath you.

I have enjoyed many of your movies. You are a tremendous actor and have also represented many good causes.

I am a 55 year old white male, who is conservative and who has frequented Tea Party activites because I am fed-up with big government overreaching its constitutional mandate...from both major parties. While at these activities and events I have rubbed shoulders with, spoken with, befriended and worked together with members of all races, including many of my black American brother and sisters. Race never came up, we were all Americans working at the grassroots level for the greater good.

Morgan, of the current GOP candidates, I support Herman Cain for President as do hundreds of thousands of Tea Party folk. I am white. Herman Cain is black. How then can I be accused of being a racist? It is his policies on the issues I agree with and will vote for, not the color of his skin. Just as I oppose Barrack Obama because of his disasterous policies. It has absolutely nothing to do with his race.

I expect the Tea Party to impact the coming 2012 election in a major way, for just these reasons. Just as it did the elections in 2010. You will see much more of the same come November of 2012.

Thanks for many wonderful memories at movies, but shame on you for these incendiary, uncalled for, incorrect and misleading statements about grassroot Americans trying their best to help their country.

If you were true to many of the characters and causes you have played and espoused, the Tea Party would be a movement you would be trying to help.

I've never had any use for this actor other than his films . . . all except his pathetic casting as the brutal mass murderer Nelson Mandela, which Morgan was ecstatic to get.

I saw it before he made these comments. Took four of my grandkids to it. I have to be honest, it was a decent, wholesome movie.

But he has crossed a line now. Unless he recants, or moves away from this position, he and his producers will not get another dime from me.

I've seen a lot of his movies, and I know he has donated to some good causes. I will give him that benefit. But, as I said to an earlier poster...and perhaps others who know more about him can say he did this long ago, if so, so be it...but now with this line he has crossed he will not get another dime of my money or support unless he steps back from it.

Simple as that.

I do not come out of the chute with vitriol when it is not warranted. Believe me, if attacked violently or in a position where that was possible, I would be equipped accordingly.

But, otherwise I try and reason with people if I can because I have seen too many times when doing so has helped change people and created allies who themselves could go and influence others I probably would never reach.

Once someone reveals themselves to be an abject enemy, I know how to fight and am more than willing to do so as my own history on this board reflects.

So, now I have returned reasoned dialog to you, despite your out of the chute vitriol...what I have said is not repugnant or destructive, unless that is what you are looking for. I have explained how it is not, but I figured I owed that to anyone fighting the enemies we face.
