"During the past two years, the state of Texas has become increasingly threatened by the spread of Mexican cartel organized crime," the report concluded.
The report states six of the seven Mexican drug cartels have "command and control" operations in Texas cities.
"Texas has become critical terrain and operational ground zero in the cartel's efforts to expand into the United States," the report stated.
McCaffrey said the cartels are heavily recruiting Texas gang members to help insure the transportation of drugs into the United States and cash from the sale of drugs back into Mexico. McCaffrey said the Texas Department of Public Safety estimates at least 18,000 Texas gang members are already working for the cartels, and the number of prison gangs working with the cartels increased from four to twelve in the last year.
"That is an enemy division inside Texas that is armed and criminal in nature and fueled by drug money," McCaffrey said.

I agree with you. Once Perry has the power to do something about it ,I believe he will. BTW, the anti- Perry trolls will be here right away.

Even during the Bush years he was for a mass registration program, temporary needs-based 2yr worker visas, deportation and ban of the criminals. No citizenship. No amnesty.
For comparison, Palin told O'Reilly in 2010 her solution was also registration and work visas.
Romney was actually asked about the illegals here at a NH townhall in August. He punted and talked about securing the border.
Newt was asked in a debate and he suggested a registration system, modeled after the World War draft boards where locals would decide who would get a visa based on local need.
I've not heard Bachmann or the others offer an answer for those here now.
I'd have thought that would be far more important than debating how to lock down the border.

It’s a huge problem, Mexico is now officially a narco state and as they move into the border states and beyond the culture follows them. Eventually the only choice left will be to send the US Army down there to restore order.
But I don’t think Perry will deport very many though the question needs to be asked of all of them in fairness.
To: FlyingEagle
That’s a disturbing extract. I hope this report gets some attention.

Youre a real stand up comic! /s Thanks, I always try to tell the truth with a little humor. Now maybe you can tell us what President Perry will do with all these illegals? Since you want him it's a fair question.

Remember TX has a balanced budget.

Even during the Bush years he was for a mass registration program, temporary needs-based 2yr worker visas, deportation and ban of the criminals. No citizenship. No amnesty. The problem with guest worker programs is they never leave, the laws are barely enforced and then the misreading of the 14th Amendment keeps them here anyway with their kids. Most of us rightly saw that Bush and Kennedy were pushing mass amnesty despite what it was being called.
Romney was actually asked about the illegals here at a NH townhall in August. He punted and talked about securing the border.
Romney won't do anything either. I actually believe when it comes to securing the border it's going to take one of those women governors, they just appear to have more stones and are less swayed by the cheap labor lobbying.

You can help secure the border by reporting crossings. Just Google BlueServo and become a virtual border guard. I’m a member and have reported several crossings.

He has said what he would do as POTUS...what he would have the current POTUS do to secure the border...boots on the ground, drones in the air.
I would hope he would have all welfare benefits cut off. I assume Congress would have to do that.
Instate tuition is is not an incentive for illegals to come to TX anymore than the other 9 states that have instate tuition. They come for freebies...not to pay tuition!

A search to discover any info on what the NAFTA border zone is revealed the following results with a comment found elsewhere: "and why border enforcement is so screwed up. Apparently, from other articles, a commission in Mexico City administers the 200 mile region with regard to the NAFTA agreement. The two govts share the border zone, the drug cartels want all or part of it, so a war between the three exists with all parties infiltrated by the others. http://www.ppt2txt.com/r/bc65246a/ a pdf text printout, source unknown..Singapore Family Album? Securing the border is important and a priority but if these illegals get amnesty the GOP is finished literally, you’ll never see conservatives winning national office again. I think it’s important that we know where all the candidates stand on that, not just Perry.
To: Reaganwuzthebest
agree
The others have had a walk on the subject and it would be interesting to hear what they have to say...most of them have never been to the border...and Santorum probably went to El Paso!
It's sad that we can't enjoy going across the border for dinner like in the good old days. I went to the dog races across the border from El Paso once.

Maybe you can convince Lamar Smith to run instead, he does not mess around when it comes to illegal immigration. I actually agree with him on the agricultural guest worker program, provided it’s strictly enforced and e-verify passes. Eisenhower did something similar in the 1950s and it worked out well enough without the chaos we have today.

That wouldn't go over well today, definitely not the name. Enforcing the laws as they're caught and stopping the job magnet a better way to go.
After the illegals were deported Eisenhower setup a guest worker program for the farmers and it seemed to work out well. Didn't have the problems we are now.
