From media mavens to grassroots activists, conservative Christian leaders are heaping praise on presidential candidate Rick Perry, an early but important show of support from a vital GOP constituency.
Like Reagan, they say, Perry is a big-state governor, a staunch conservative and, significantly, a fellow Christian.
He has huddled with social conservatives at a Texas retreat, hosted a high-profile Christian prayer rally in Houston and recited his prodigal-son spiritual testimony at the late Jerry Falwellâs Liberty University.

yeah the WASH, COMPOST BELIEVES IT SO IT MUST BE TRUE
Is that the guy who called me heartless for disagreeing with him? Yup.
No,he called us heartless racists.
I loved George Bush’s Christian worldview as well. Then realized too late that he complicity encouraged millions of illegals to pour into the US over the 8 years of his term.
Perry doubled down on that policy the other night. No thanks.
In the case of St Rick, a lot of his “Christian” support seems to come from national council of Churches followers. Nothing but green open borders social justice types.
No, he's the one who called you heartless for disagreeing with a solution that the people of Texas decided on. After all, they have way more experience with illegals then someone from Michigan. Unless.....maybe you have a problem with those Canadians.
Not only is Ricardo Perry making a fool of himself, he’s aking a fool of you. You keep posting crap like crazy trying to prop this idiot up. I hope he is paying you good!
No true Christian could possibly vote for Perry or anyone else who cozies up with Muslims. Heres just one quote from Perry that will illustrate.
It is a great honor to be in the presence of the Imam of 16 million Muslims around the world, a global humanitarian leader, a man of peace with a pluralistic vision for people around the world, His Highness, the Aga Khan, the 49th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Your Highness, on behalf of 23 million Texans, and over 600,000 thousand Muslims living in Texas, I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your 50 years of great international leadership. We are delighted to welcome you to the Lone Star State and participate in the celebration of your Golden Jubilee. I am also grateful to the many federal, state and local leaders in attendance tonight. By their presence, these special guests convey the profound respect that exists in the Western World for His Highness work and leadership.
Now here is what scripture says about someone who gives credence to someone who preaches another gospel.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Notice the partaker of his evil deeds? Perry has put himself in a very dangerous position. If he is partaker then I would propose that anyone who gives him the same deference is also a partaker. I will not support Perry for that and other reasons. I would suggest that anyone who professes Jesus as savior be very careful about supporting anyone who gives Muslims the type of support that Perry does.
bump.
"Fellow Christian" also describes just about any presidential candidate. I don't see any atheists, agnostics, muslims, jews, buddhists, hindus, or sikhs running in the GOP primary.
Jimmy Carter was a ‘fellow Christian” also and look what that got us.
“Jimmy Carter was a fellow Christian also and look what that got us.”
Whoa! Extremely good point. I remember the country falling for that dude in 1976....big mistake. I’m glad I voted for Ford then.
I’m a conservative Southern Baptist (about as “Evangelical” as it gets) and I have serious misgivings about Perry. Of course, he would be better than Romney as the nominee, and he would be far superior to 4 more years of Obama. However, my “gut”(which I admit is prone to error) tells me that Perry cannot be trusted to acommplish anything except marking time.
I have never been a big Palin suporter, although I have always liked her. Previously I leaned mainly towards Bachmann as best representing my values (actually Santorum was probably better). Whatever, I’m seriously thinking tha a Palin/Cain ticket would be a very good thing. Of course, Sarah has to run first.
Whatever, Perry will NOT get my primary vote. I will vote for him in a general election....but it will be more of a vote against Obama than a vote for Perry. First he has to win the primary. I’m not sure he will. I’m afraid we are going to get stuck with Romney...which if it happens...I vote third party or leave that part of the ballot blank. I will not help put a practicing Mormon in the place of POTUS. There isn’t a way I can overcome the stench to vote for that scum.
Right, because Perry is the king of fiscal conservatism. /sarc
