Insulting the president and other government officials is practically a national pastime in the United States. This is a testament to the freedom of our society; in some parts of the world, insulting those who govern earns you swift punishment, or at least official censorship. That isnt the case in America unless you live on a college campus.
Students at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Texas found this out the hard way yesterday when they erected a free speech wall a recently popular way for students to highlight the importance of free speech in which students put up a freestanding wall covered in paper, upon which anyone can write anything they want.

“F” Obama and the whore he rode in on.
That’s about what their degrees are worth.
Prof. Kirk does not appear to have been offended by the F-word itself, however only at its use in an insult against the president. Thats the only one he cut out, after all.
Sam Houston Institute of Totalitarians
FAIL...
From the article:
"But just hours in, the free speech wall was vandalized by a professor yes, a professor! who was offended that someone had written F**K OBAMA on the free speech wall. Students being students, the F-word was written on the wall many times about many different topics, but apparently the only expletive that offended this professor enough to take action was the one referring to President Obama. The police stated that since the professor was offended the students were breaking the law. The professor was only offended by the statement about the President as is indicated by his action of cutting out the word in the statement about the President ONLY!
EXACTLY! Where was all this social conscience when GW was President? Profanities included! I recall demonstrations, even “Kill George Bush’ websites!!! Not only tolerated, but praised!
Totalitarian dictators shut up dissidents first!
I didn’t read all of the reviews, but found that they went back as far as ‘03, with the same or similar evaluation.
(The Prof. is no effing good).
At least it was a learning experience for the students.
At your link, his students rip him to shreds! Hysterical!
“Heck, Im almost ready to move to the U.S.S.R..”
That would require some time travel since the USSR disintegrated in the early 1990’s.
Perry should see about withdrawing State support from the university, until such time that they rectify and apologize for their mistake.
Uhhh .. the stoonts are no prize.
I'll respond with a quote from DNA: "A mindless jerk who'll be the first against the wall when the revolution starts."
It’s a school of higher learning. The only debate they are open to the degree corporations are killing the earth (Very quickly or super quickly) or how badly are republicans killing our country (really badly or extremely badly)
The consistently bad reviews over eight years is more an indictment of the school’s governance than this particular clearly wretched faculty member. If he behaved like this during his probationary period, he should have been fired. If not, and he ‘slipped by’ until he had tenure, he has clearly ‘retired on the job’.
Not just this professor, but any school that collects tuition and harbors faculty like this should be avoided. Some good advice on optimizing the funds expended on acquiring a credential used to be posted for free, now it has apparently gotten enough traction that the author took down the site and sells the material as a “manual” : http://www.garynorth.com/public/729.cfm .
Whatever the case, they are better off than we, and their leader loves his country, which is much more than I can say for our “leader”.
This is one of those "Question Authority" times. A professor being offended equates to disorderly conduct? I think not. The students allowed a mockery to be made of their project.
Wrong. If the banner had read “I think Obama is unqualified to hold the office of POTUS, and the worst president America has had in 50 years” - nothing could have been done.
The Professor would have been told to pound sand.
