In his CPAC speech today, Rick Perry came out swinging, criticizing Romneycare vigorously and stressing that there was no connection between good debating and good governing.
"As conservatives, we know that values and vision matter," Perry said. "It's not who is the slickest candidate or the smoothest debater that we need to elect. We need to elect the candidate with the best record and the best vision for this country."

LOL Who is Mitt Perry? Weeks, months?
I said, I will defend Rick Perry, as I would any good conservative from nitwits like you. Before the CNN debate on Sept.12, not much evidence of even that. And NO endorsement of any kind for any candidate. You really need to pay closer attention and stop spewing falsehoods.
Now, you may not like my defense of Perry but your defense of a second Obama term over a Perry Presidency is sheer lunacy.
>>>>>Perry is not a conservative.
As a conservative, Perry is "pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America". Perry believes "in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty".
His opposition to a full border fence and his support for in-state tuition are two issues I disagree with him on. As do most conservatives. But they're not a deal breaker.
Unless they have a Bachmann-type meltdown, Perry and Romney will be the two frontrunners entering the actual primary phase starting Feb 2012 with the Iowa caucuses.
I know that I would have to pay $32,500 for my kid to go there.
Now you get to answer how much the illegal alien would have to pay. Hint: It's not $32,500.
Cheers, to you for your spirited defense.
Thanks!
You are most welcome.
In the previous debate he insinuated that those of us against illegal immigration were racist.
Last night he called us heartless.
Well, to clarify things, clairity. What most people found distasteful about Perry’s performance was his stance on illegals and in state tuition. Perry is for amnesty and he showed it last night and in past debates. Whether or not he is a good debater is irrelevant, whether he is for amnesty is very relevant.
BS
Perry is a man of minimal intellect.
>> “Perry’s record isn’t that great. His vision, what we know of it, is indistinguishable from the other candidates, and his ability to communicate is demonstrably weak.” <<
.
Perry, in a nutshell!
>> “ but remember he was down some 20 points behind Kay Baily Hutchinson and ended up beating her by a significant margin.” <<
.
With Sarah Palin’s misguided help.
If she could grab a mulligan on that one, Perry would be selling gardasil on street corners.
Stop touting the ever useless Ricky Ricardo.
Palin is our candidate, and she will win by a wide mandate.
We need to work on boosting her “coattails” in congress, not sniffle about turkeys like Ricardo and Mittens.
Newt said last night that he will be unveiling a “Contract with America for the 21st Century” in IA in a few weeks.
My sense is that Newt knows he won’t be able to win the nomination, but that he can help frame the national debate. So far he’s been doing just that.
Perry definitely needs to work on his delivery and clarify his message, tho, because i was totally confused until late today.
>> “He did not say he supported open borders. If you can find where he said it, then please link it up.” <<

“Today we begin a new dialogue about our shared future, a future of promising potential if we work together to solve the challenges we both face. It is fitting that we convene this summit where the great, meandering river known as the Rio Grande or the Rio Bravo forms the long border between Texas and Mexico. In years past, that famed body of water has been seen by many as a dividing point, If you were to walk along its banks and look to the other side, based on the stereotypes of the past, you would think you were seeing things a million miles away, instead of a stones throw away. But I am here today to say that while we have honest differences, there is more that unites us than divides us. The Rio Grande does not separate two nations, it joins two peoples. Mexico and the United States have a shared history, and a common future. And it is along this border where we will either fail or succeed in addressing the education, health care and transportation needs of our two peoples.”

Get your head out of your a$$
>> “I simply dont blame these kids. If they are allowed to better themselves, it serves Aztlan well” <<

You are right — we should just keep Obama. It makes sense — there are a couple of issues with Perry, so let’s ignore his record of job creation in Texas.
I guess you don’t have any issues with Obama — while a couple of things are deal-breakers with Perry.
Yes, that’s what we need, four more years of Obama, rather than Perry.
Great logic.
Yeah, that's exactly what McCain said four years ago.
Did we learn anything from that?
they are getting pell grants and subsidized student loans as well as attending a federally subsidized school and college if they are doing all of that (been there at least three years). My problem is that it provides yet another incentive for people to come here illegally and never try to comport themselves properly with immigration law. Make all of their lives harder and they will stop illegally immigrating. I don’t care whose fault anything is when it comes to illegal immigrants, they are the problem. Kowtowing to them is not the solution to that - regardless of if mami and papi brought them here against their will or they happened to not have a choice. Make mami and papi pay!
