Perry: We Don't Need to Elect the 'Smoothest Debater'
National Review ^ | Sept. 23, 2011 | Katrina Trinko

Posted on 09/23/2011 11:07:54 AM PDT by Clairity

In his CPAC speech today, Rick Perry came out swinging, criticizing Romneycare vigorously and stressing that there was no connection between good debating and good governing.

"As conservatives, we know that values and vision matter," Perry said. "It's not who is the slickest candidate or the smoothest debater that we need to elect. We need to elect the candidate with the best record and the best vision for this country."

“”Many of these people live in communities that are unsafe for their children and have no chance advance their children through the education route. Mexico is in the process of social dishevel and is a terrible place to raise children. America is their escape route as long as Mexico fails to reform their society. By plugging that escape route, you push Mexico to a crisis point and revolution.””

So are you trying to tell me that America must accept anybody and everybody just because that person’s country of origin is a nasty place with despotic leaders who mistreat their citizens?

And if we followed your line of thinking our country would then become a despotic and corrupt country and now where would the person go?

That is why we need to maintain our sovereignty.

Otherwise we become like our southern neighbor.

“So 4-more years of Obama would likely not be as bad as 4-years with a RINO the likes of Rick Perry who carries the torch for the pro-amnesty crowd.”

That’s incredible.

Wow -- you really are dense.

You said:

What conservatives are going to toss those illegal immigrants brought here through no fault of their own and who are applying and waiting on citizenship papers?

The point is those law requirements prove your above statement to be false. ILLEGAL aliens (yes, they are aliens not immigrants like you and the left like to call them) cannot seek citizenship because they are ILLEGAL aliens.

And I have not "given is Romney". The election is over a year away and obviously many things can and will happen. Just look at how fast your RINO boy Rick has fallen.

Do you really have a problem with holding out for a real conservative?

“The 15% in the mushy middle will decide, and they won’t like someone who looks like he was just slapped in the face with a fish.”

Fortunately the mush brained moderates are still watching American Idol and did not see the debate. We seem fubared at this point if Perry fumbles it. Paul Ryan is the best communicator but he seems not to want to take on the clean negro. He would wipe the floor with barry in a debate and the soccer moms would love him.

That’s incredible.

No, it's a fact. The Republicans in congress would fight democRAT Obama but they would likely go along with most anything a RINO Republican Rick Perry wanted.

What is it you don't understand about "IN STATE," Cheeta?

They have been in TX at least three years!

And YES! It is OK with me! They are paying what everybody else who has lived in TX pays!

Name me one example where Mexicans have come in illegally for in state tuitions! Ridiculous!

Talk to the
Supremes re having a Heart on the children drug accross the border by their parents.

You all talk a good game but when it comes to answers the arguements fall flat based on reality.
A small community in the Dalla area voted to ban illegals from living within their City Limits. Also, working within the City Limits.

IT WAS RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Do you really think making unfounded smears against Perry will win your arguement?

Do you really think making blanket statements like that makes yours?

What did I say that was 'unfounded'?

It’s Federal law that all states must educate K thru 12 not Texas or Rick Perry’s law.

Why should your daughter, if not a Texas resident, get Texas instate tuition in the first place? When did we all become Federalists who think every state is part of one powerful central government rather than 50 individual states protected by a limited centralized role? Which word is the most important in “United States of America?”

Your daughter has to pay more because she doesnt live here. Allowing an illegal’s kid to pay less doesnt have any effect on what your daughter would pay. You are simply using a variation of class warfare.

Jeff - I agree with everything you said. If you look at my history (up until today) I was very supportive of Perry.

But his stance on immigration is very troubling. Even that I was willing to let slide. But when he said the rest of us have “no heart” for opposing in-state tuition for illegals, that was it. He lost me forever right there. That was a Dem tactic.

Yeah, that's exactly what McCain said four years ago.

Why doesn’t Perry Point out that in many places along the Texas border, the line goes down the middle of the Rio Grande and any fence would cut Texas off from a valuable and necessary source of water?

In Perry's first debate, he flaunted his "Texas Economic Miracle" - "showcasing his record and plans."

Unfortunately, we now learn that Perry's vaunted "miracle" gave out tax-subsidized jobs that benefited immigrants (40% legal, 40% ILLEGAL). Native-born Texans, who pay all the taxes, received only 20% of the new jobs created since 2007.

This is not the sort of "record" Americans want "showcased"....and carried into the WH.

Last night Perry had the unmitigated gall to say that Americans who do not want to educate illegals are "heartless racists."

Rick Santorum had the best comeback----nobody is suggesting illegals and legals should not be educated. The fact is they can go to any school they choose.

All we are saying is why does Perry think the govt has to subsidize it?

Hold out for Palin? Gad. The wounded dove mantel has paid her great dividends. If you reaLLY think she is leaving all that for another boot kicking, I can’t help you. It’s all Romney now. Don’t worry, be happy.

We need policies to make them self-deport, don’t need a fence...just stop giving stuff away to them.
