Sarah Palin: I am still considering running for president

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she remains interested in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination even as a recent poll shows a vast majority of Republican voters oppose her candidacy.
“I think people are still going to be coming and going because there is still time, and I’m still one of those still considering,” Ms. Palin said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is still time…And I think on both sides of the aisle, you’re going to see people coming and going in this race.”
Ms. Palin, who has repeatedly hinted at a potential run for president, said earlier this year that she is likely to announce her decision at the end of the month. A number of political analysts have questioned whether the former Alaska governor will enter the race.
Ms. Palin’s comment comes as a McClatchy poll reported that 72 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning independents do not want the former vice presidential nominee to run for president in 2012. Just 24 percent said they support the idea of a Palin presidential bid.
Speaking Wednesday, Ms. Palin said she remains confident that the current field of Republican presidential candidates can defeat President Obama in the November general election.
“We need to change the entire game plan. And we need to change the entire team that’s been there at White House doing such great damage to our economy,” the former Alaska governor said. “We need to make sure that we have the best and most qualified. The most vetted candidate to come forth and rise to the surface after this primary process.”

Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but...

Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.

You should also know that Reagan was paid for his radio show right up until the time he announced - in mid-November 1979.
But he did quit. He resigned his position as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City so that he could pursue politics. Really, you Palin-bashers should at least do some research before sticking your feet in your mouths!

So what are you trying to say? That as alternative media grows, we need candidates to run earlier and earlier? Now that we are using Facebook, Twitter, Google +, etc., should the 2016 candidates start announcing soon? When will it be too late to run for the 2016 election?
Actually the fact that we have so much media and technology argues for a shorter election cycle. Back in 1979, even though Reagan announced in mid-November, many people didn't read about his announcement speech until after Thanksgiving because news magazines of the day needed a week or two lead time for any current news to get into their issues.
Today, a candidate can make an announcement and within minutes, you can view the speech on YouTube or read about it on any number of websites. So if anything, we should be shortening up our election cycle, not adding to it.

If she decides to run she had better have more than, I want to cut taxes and get People working again,we have 8 dopes reciting the same mantra over and over making my hair hurt.
There are issues that would resonate,just take issues the Media refuses to cover,like Fast and Furious,she could actually have a Plan for dealing with Social Security instead of a Conversation about it,stand up for following the rules instead of trampling over them and Tearing up the Constitution in the process. People who pay their taxes and do follow the rules have no one representing and speaking out for them.That in my opinion would break through this Bilge coming from all the Candidates,they are to focused on how to get around specifics,people want SPECIFICS and want someone with Courage to tell it like it is.MAKE your Case with confidence and Courage,the country is Hungry for a Leader not a Wimp

What with most people taking for granted that Google wrote the Ten Commandments they are too eager to swallow fabricated internet histories.

My position as a Palin supporter is that this is her call. I would love to hear her take on Zero everyday but she has a plan. She took down the biggest name in AK politics, the incumbent R gov, then beat a Dem ex-gov. For those against Palin, they can take comfort in the fact it is getting later; those on the fence can switch back and forth, and then us diehards will just wait. Worst comes to worst and she declines, most of us will switch to Rick La Raza Perry, but in the end ABO.
It sounds to me like Palin has some inside information that plays into her timing. A smoking gun somewhere, scandals, other entrants. Palin’s name is so well known that she can push this strategy to the limit.
