Awesome. That’s how concerned I was as well!
Yet they have absolutely no problems with abortion. Even the partial birth variety.
Excellent article. Thank you for publishing it.
The sob story being pushed by the media is nothing more than a politically motivated lie.
The Supremes have reviewed the entire case (twice now, it seems) and the facts are still the facts as presented at the trial. That is why they didn’t stop the sentence.
With 34 people testifying Davis was the trigger man (not 9 or 7 or some other made up number) and the jury deliberating for all of 2 hours, there was absolutely no doubt this was the murder.
22 years later? Get real.
he’s dead, Jim.
More than a dozen courts have looked at Davis case and refused to overturn his death sentence. Moot point anyway. He has been executed.
The DUmmies are going absolutely ballistic over this. Great entertainment.
I know he’s been executed. I just hope some future forensic evidence or methodology doesn’t show it was, in fact, ole “Red” who did it. Just more ammo for the anti-death penalty forces.
I sure hope this brings whatever measure of peace can be found for the McPhail family.
Only by affidavit (sp), they refused to be cross examined by the special review panel of the supreme court.
I served as a juror at a murder trial. There were no witnesses except the words of the dying victim and the murder weapon was never recovered, but the circumstantial evidence was overwhelming. We found the defendant guilty. After that experience, I have greater faith in our judicial system. All of us took it very seriously and did our best to ensure that we believed the person was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
You can't make this stuff up. I think seven out of nine recanting would cast very serious doubt. Or are you one of those naïve schmucks who think our legal system is infallible?
From that article:
“Fifty-nine percent of Americans now believe that an innocent man has been executed in the last five years. There is more credible evidence that space aliens have walked among us than that an innocent person has been executed in this country in the past 60 years, much less the past five years.”
Patently absurd. Of course innocent people have been executed in the past 60 years. Sheesh. Ann is called a political satirist for a reason, ya know.
Uhh. He was white.
The three air force witnesses testified that he Davis was the shooter. The transient’s girlfriend testified that he was the shooter. His friends and all the other eyewitnesses testified that he was the shooter. He shot a cop with 34 witnesses around. The two “recantations” from his friends, who were admittedly standing five feet away from him, were discounted by the appeals courts because they were unbelievable and because Davis would not allow them to testify, suggesting that the affidavits were lies. He was told the court would discount their affidavits if he wouldn’t let them testify. 7 of the jury members were black yet the media turned this into a racial issue where there was none.
In all honesty, I have not followed this case, but it was a major topic on local talk radio today. I thought it was 7 of 9 witnesses recanted, leaving only 2 witnesses saying he did it. Guess our local guys aren’t getting good information. At any rate, he’s dead, Jim.
I wonder what Anderson Cooper NOW thinks of Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan, and Sotomayor? They DID NOT dissent ...
Keep killing this guy even after he’s dead, I say.
I wonder what the liberal gal thought about the other guy executed tonight, the white supremist who dragged a black man to his death? Did she also protest his execution tonight?
Please don't be troubled. There were more than 30 eye witnesses, seven of which knew Davis personally. The one's who "recanted" simply altered their testimony and most didn't change their testimony that he did it. This whole "significant doubt" thing is a liberal fairy tale. If you want more proof, look up the 174 page analysis of the evidence done by the Federal Court when they gave him a chance to prove his innocence. He is guilty, guilty, guilty.
