CBS/AP) CINCINNATI A tea party activist is challenging U.S. House Speaker John Boehner in the 2012 Republican primary.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Lewis announced his candidacy on Friday.
Lewis, 26, is the father of a 2-year-old girl, and says he plans to run on a single issue Boehner's support of a federal budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which he calls "the largest killer of unborn babies in America."
Lewis told the newspaper he plans to run graphic...

“Disclaimer: I have not researched this guys background yet so I cannot verify the claim of teaparty.”
I’ve come across this a few times. I ask respectfually, because I really don’t know, is there something specific one has to do?
Township offices and school boards are fine places to start for many.
While Boehner—even as Speaker—is not a sacred cow; for a one issue candidate from outside his district to challenge him, is an embarrassment to those of us on the right:
First of all, it is not in any sense Conservative to run on only one issue. Conservatives believe in the heritage of their communities (and I emphasize communities for my second point). The heritage of Southern Ohio is not solely dependent upon whether a particular, Left leaning, organization, is funded, or not. Of course, it is improper for the Federal Government to be funding ideological organizations of any sort. But so too, is it unacceptable to be funding all of the other Unconstitutional programs that we now must live with.
How do we even know that Mr. Lewis can articulate our concerns on all of those other programs? Is one vote, over a two year period, a proper purpose for a candidacy? Does that not sound ridiculous?
Secondly, Boehner represents the people of a particular district. If he is to be opposed, is it not obvious that the candidate should be a constituent? In Britain, this may be acceptable. But it is an implied insult to the citizens of that district—and there is nothing conservative about that.

Boehner = TARP voter
Good points.
Let’s check out this guy and see if he is for real
This could easily be a diversion from a democrap organization to portray Tea PArty as one- issue voters
There are A LOT of reasons to primary Boner, not just this issue.
Welcome Speaker of the House Eric Cantor?
Just run searches on a search engine and call Ohio area TPs etc.
Just dig in and start picking apart information, links etc.
Hope that helps.
Lewis doesn’t even live in the district.
Boehner will win handily. After all, the vote is up to the bona fide residents of his district, not to outsiders.
Godspeed, Boehner sucks! The D.C. insiders he has surrounded himself with are arrogant brats and not much better either...
I think people are missing the point. David Lewis is not going to defeat Boehner and I imagine he knows that BUT he is going to use this opportunity to spotlight his issue of defunding Planned Parenthood. I applaud him in this endeavor of raising awareness and putting pressure on Boehner.
You’re right Mr. K and I fully agree with you. See previous post.
The constituents of his District, particularly the TP and FREEPERS (YES!) must persuade him to broaden his platform.
I think this is good!!!
Agreed! I don’t think this is a winning issue!!! Don’t get me wrong I think abortions are wrong and should be outlawed but most Americans don’t think this is the number 1 issue right now!!
The one person true American Patriots will be focused on voting out of office next year will be and should be, Barack HUSSEIN Ubama. Period.
Any thinking person in Boehner’s district is not going to blame the Speaker for the activities of Planned Parenthood, nor would they base their vote on that one issue.
This is the thing. ANYONE on whom no information can be found can jump up and call themselves a “tea party” candidate. Fox News shouldn’t give this twit the time of day.
Hahahahahaha...where did you get it?
You KNOW I’m gonna steal it.
If we are to win this war, the Gloves must come off!. Boehner said just yesterday that there are parts of Obama's jobs bill that can be worked with. That would be all well and good if it's only the tax cuts but Boehner will compromise with other things to get the tax cuts. It's insane and always results in a pyrrhic victory
Yes, thankyou. Does one have to be active, iow, can’t anyone who believes in what the TP stands for, call themselves a TP’ier?
Seriously, how ignorant is this? Boehner is not the devil. Sure, he needs to be held to account. But attacking him like he is an Obama sycophant is stupid. He isn't.
John Boehner is not Charlie Crist. John Boehner is not Lincoln Chaffee. John Boehner is not Christy Whitman.
There is a danger, believe it or not, of seeing a RINO in every Republican. And you know who wins then? Democrats.
For a prime example, I give you: the Democrat party of the 1980s. Anyone who was keen on politics then knew there was so much infighting about the "true keeper" of the Democrat party's principles (i.e. Roosevelt's vision) that they NEVER coalesced (is that spelled right?) to defeat Republicans.
We are in a danger of doing that NOW. So many are wanting to claim THEY are the ONLY conservatives who are worth listening to...and the rest of those Rs are idiots....we really do have a danger, I think, of having a circular firing squad.
Do we need to separate the wheat from the chaff? Absolutely. But looking at the guy who is--for whatever his faults are--trying to keep Hussein's vision of fascist socialism at bay as the "ENEMY" is a bit over the top.
Boehner has a lifetime 94.3 rating from the American Conservative Union. Are there ANY Democrats with lower ratings who deserve to have primary challengers? Are there ANY Democrats who deserve to have Hussein hung around their necks like an albatross in the next election? Would MONEY be better spent on THAT kind of campaign than against a guy who is rated higher than a 94 with the ACU?
Hell, even if you're keen on whacking Republicans, look at some Republicans who are MORE liberal than Boehner....
Don Young of Alaska?
Gary Miller of California? Mary Bono Mack of the same state?
Judy Biggert of Illinois?
Vern Buchanan of Florida?
Mike Simpson of Idaho?
Rod Frelinghuysen of New Jersey?
My point is, there are PLENTY of people who could be labeled RINOs before John Freakin' Boehner.
And while we're at it, look around FR. You will find nearly EVERY candidate labeled a RINO or a traitor or a liberal or a Democrat in disguise: Romney, Perry, Bachmann, Santorum, Newt...hell, we even have a contingent here who despises Sarah Palin....
Frankly, I threw my hat in the ring a little late in 2008, and I am doing the same this year. I haven't ruled anyone out in the primary except for Huntsman and Ron Paul.
We cannot win if we label EVERY person a RINO.
Look at our best President of the past 50 years...Ronald Reagan. He gave us amnesty, Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy, AND he cooperated with that extremist liberal Tip O'Neill on social security. Good God Almighty, that'd make him an BIG TIME RINO in the eyes of some people.
I don't say that to attack Reagan...I say that because I want people to see there are faults with all men and women in the body politic. Demanding they be Pure Gods from Mount Olympia is unrealistic and contrary to our purpose of shrinking government and defeating Hussein.
