HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Michelle Obama says a pledge by the Olive Garden, Red Lobster and four other restaurant chains to serve healthier meals is a "breakthrough moment" for the industry.

The Darden restaurant company pledged Thursday to reduce calories and sodium by 20 percent over 10 years. It will also make a fruit or vegetable side dish and low-fat milk standard with kids' meals. If a child wants French fries, an adult will have to ask for them.

I am far from speechless, but if I said what I am thinking, I would be banned.

Just look at that nasty face in the green dress.

Italians don’t eat spaghetti out. We would never think of eating at Olive Garden and we never have. We make Italian food at home. That’s the way we are anyway.

We need to schedule a Freeper and Tea Party “Take Your Kids to Olive Garden” day.

Bring all the kiddies in and have each of them order a double-order of fries. Do this at every table in every restaurant and some heads will start exploding.

Sometimes I include a little coffee between the layers as well.

Goes really well with a six pack of Jolt Cola

To many, including me, dining out is a splurge.

I just heard a shocking statistic (and can't put my fingers on the article) that the average family spends 30-40% on eating out. I remember this because I did a quick mental calculation to determine that my household doesn't even spend 10%.

"The announcement was the latest deal signed by the Partnership for a Healthier America, the non-profit created to operate Mrs. Obama's "Let's Move" anti-childhood obesity drive."

More fascism at work for your own good, and corporations comply (for their own good).

A caller to Levin mentioned this (Levin went ballistic).

LANSING, Mich. (WLS) - In an attempt to combat Michigan's childhood obesity epidemic, Gov. Rick Snyder announced Wednesday that the state would begin tracking kids' body mass index through the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. Although the policy would be one of the most extensive government anti-childhood obesity efforts, pediatricians were divided over whether it would have the desired impact.

The tracking system would encourage pediatricians to calculate patients' BMI using height and weight measurements, and report these numbers to the state through the existing immunization tracking system, the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. The numbers would be reported anonymously, meaning that the child's identity would not be connected to his or her BMI in state records.

Michigan to track children's BMI
~~~~~~~~~~
Trial balloon now; anonymous data now; mandatory and specific data later when and if Obamacare kicks in--- School and doctor reporting...AND to be surely followed by government visits to your home to monitor the "obesity" quotient of your children. Negligence/child abuse warnings to follow.
Have we learned nothing about how these fascist roll-outs work yet? INCREMENTAL!
Put pot on stove; warm water; insert frog citizens/corporations; turn up heat sloooowly.
Comply NOW or suffer later. For your own good.
Corporations are complying now. For their own good.
Should have clarified:
So let me get this straight......so a kid has to get approval from the parents for french fries but not necessary for an abortion or birth control pills. Typical liberal bs.
It's going to take 10 years to implement the new menu? If they were serious it could be done in two months.
Exactly. Better to promise something now no one will remember or care about in 10 years.
“So let me get this straight......so a kid has to get approval from the parents for french fries but not necessary for an abortion or birth control pills. Typical liberal bs.”
Many freepers keep making the mistake of thinking Michelle’s program has to do with food and health.
What do fries and abortion have in common?
the AGENDA and ObamaCare.
Another clue: ObamaCare has nothing to do with health.
