Obama declares 'national emergency' for action on jobs plan
By: Carrie Budoff Brown September 14, 2011 02:08 PM EDT
RALEIGH, N.C. President Barack Obama opened the sixth day of his jobs push Wednesday with a campaign-style rally at North Carolina State University, saying the country is in the midst of a national emergency that requires Congress to act swiftly on his $447 billion plan.
Against the backdrop of more negative poll numbers and two special-election losses for Democrats, Obama called on thousands of college students assembled in the steamy Reynolds Coliseum to mobilize behind the plan, a mix of tax cuts and government spending on infrastructure, jobs programs and construction projects.
The 26-minute speech before a crowd of more than 9,000 echoed his remarks in previous days, with a slightly sharper critique of congressional Republicans for suggesting that they dont want to give Obama a political win and pass his proposal.
I get fed up with that kind of game plan, and weve been seeing it for too long. Too long, Obama said. Were in a national emergency. Weve been grappling with a crisis for three years, and instead of getting folks to rise up above partisanship in a spirit that says were all in this together, we got folks who are purposely dividing, purposely thinking just in terms of how does this play out just in terms of this election.

scratch my post.
Folks, it’s only 2 pages, and the first one doesn’t count.
It basically sets income and corporate taxes to “zero percent”.
Hillarious.
Hmmm...
... They have said that despite the President's calls to pass this bill immediately, the real plan is to let it hang out there for a while so Democrats can use it as an issue on the campaign trail. What is more, the President knew as well as I did when he unveiled this plan that Democrats in the Senate had already scheduled a full slate of legislative business for the next few weeks. So unless the White House wants to admit that it has no regard for its own party's legislative business in Congress, the President's call for immediate action was clearly little more than a rhetorical flourish.
I checked the Record for Sept 12 and 13, and it does not appear in either of those.
House - Sept 13
House - Sept 12
Scroll down to the sections titled "PUBLIC BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS", then search for "Gohmert."
Thanks
It does not matter.
Presidents don’t submit bills.
They just don’t.
Why has no one pointed that out?
Whew. How exhausting and frenetic it must be for our President to live a life of perpetual crisis. Obambi just isn’t used to it, never had any work experience that prepared him to be a competent President.
if the national emergency works out he’ll use that fresh box of pens to sign a mountain of Executive Orders
One Bill from president is Budget. Please correct me if wrong.
He is desperate, delusional, and despicable. Not necessarily in that order.
The Bill that is in the Senate (same name) was filed yesterday.
By Mr. REID (by request):S. 1549. A bill to provide tax relief for American workers and businesses, to put workers back on the job while rebuilding and modernizing America, and to provide pathways back to work for Americans looking for jobs; read the first time.
I tried to.
“All legislative powers...”
Especially since bills spending money MUST!!! originate in the house
But it is no longer politically expedient to stick to the Constitution. Didn’t Madison promise us this would never happen in one of the Federalist Papers?
Jeesh. Who cares anymore. It’s gone, folks. No rules apply to them, none at all!
It’s all about campaigning. It’s always all about campaigning.
When are the folks in Ubama’s base gonna realize it’s “pie in the sky and something on your shoe.”
Mr. Obama, your being a one term president doesn't constitute a national emergency, however, your reelection would!
A question. Could not a spending bill be written by House member, Senate member, or sitting President, yet the filing must be in the House?
I maybe am wrong, regarding this thought, yet agree all spending money bills MUST originate in the House. And I agree this is not being done presently, as the Senate now introduces spending money bills. I agree this is a clear violation of the Constitution.
Damn, if the only choice was obama and hillery, I’d vote hillery.
