NEW YORK (AP) -- Republicans have scored an upset victory in a House race that became a referendum on President Barack Obama's economic policies.
Retired media executive and political novice Bob Turner defeated Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin in a special election Tuesday to succeed Rep. Anthony Weiner, a seven-term Democrat who resigned in June after a sexting scandal.

YES!! What happened about the absentee votes?
Yep, it is remarkable how that simple and obvious idea is totally fought by the Lovers of Losers.
Looks like NY just told him where he can put the shovel.
Pray for America
It’s not just a rebuke. It’s a rout. I can’t wait to see the left panic cause the SHTF. Watch the moderate dems run away screaming from the liberal left. They are going to throw the anointed one under the bus to save their own hides.
I’m so excited that I’m off to Der Wienerschnitzel to get 5 chili dogs for $5.
Sorry, but, they are primarily located in the west and southwest.
And Nevada is sending REPUBLICAN Mark Amodei to DC in the morning.
Won by 20%+ margin.
I have always believed that stupidity must hit stupidly head on so it become so obvious to the casual observer what the problem is.
We have 6,000 years of knowledge that government is never the answer - maybe NY will get it - or, they can ban salt and teach kindergarteners how to put on a condom.
Wouldn’t you like to see the look on the face of the loud mouthed Lib coming from Weperin hdqtrs who bragged that 1000 Rats flooded the district today for certain victory as Turner was eating a cheeseburger and relaxing?
This is unbelievable, given the district.
This is the ‘ultimate poll’ following that worthless televised “jobs speech” before the Congress.
I’m very surprised we are even reading about this from the AP.
Doesn't matter a whole lot.
The real significance of this victory is its smack down of Hussein -- predominantly by Jewish voters.
Vhat a wictory!
Mozel tov!
( There were many New York freepers who worked very hard to get out the vote. Im so proud of them! )
Amen to that. Hats off to those who busted their butts to elect Turner.

10. Not shocking
The US is filled with idiots and the orthodox Jewish community is no different than evangelical Christians or Muslim fundies, all religious nut bags. Once again religion and racism ruins the day.

8. Too bad...
and amazing that people will vote in a crazy.
It’s all about getting that “n” word out of THEIR White House.
If you push Jews hard enough the WILL push back. And I don’t want to be on the push back side.
I voted in Queens, near Forest Hills. There were several Weprin supporters, including a daughter of Weprin, standing outside the polling place handing out literature. Literature which I pointedly refused. There was no one for Turner standing out there. My phone’s answering machine had received 3-4 robo-calls from Weprin supporters every single darn day for a week before the election. My mailbox was full of Weprin literature, probably 3-4 pieces for Weprin for every piece I got from Bob Turner. So certainly the MONEY and INFLUENCE was in the Demojerks’ corner. I was afraid that this would be another Demo-machine victory.
On the sidewalk outside the polling place, I heard Weprin’s daughter engaging an Orthodox woman in conversation, saying that her father “was a strong supporter of Israel.” That the listener to this drivel would even entertain such a conversation after Weprin came out for gay marriage, I found astounding and sad. I see from the poll results so far that Brooklyn came out heavily for Turner, no doubt reflecting the very conservative views of the large Brooklyn Orthodox population. Queens wavered back and forth to a nearly 50:50 position, and is now slightly ahead for Weprin, but Queens is much more full of self-deluded liberals than is Brooklyn. Nevertheless, even with these pathetic deluded liberals willing to affirm that Obama’s policies are just peachy-keen by voting for Weprin, it appears that Brooklyn’s solidarity for Turner has prevailed.
The sweeeet part of this is the RATS cannot ditch Urkel no matter how unpopular he is. Without the Black vote the party is dead and it will evaporate if he is ditched. Even if he resigns it will mean the crushing of the party. Could not happen to a nicer bunch of people.
Many more to come.
I agree, We got the seat. Rino or not, we got the seat.
Well Obama can take credit for creating at least one job this summer...Bob Turner should send him a thank you card.
