Herman Cain

Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Jon Huntsman
Huntsman was Utah Governor, former ambassador to China under Barack Obama.
Ron Paul

Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Yeah Ron Paul! Cut Department of Energy and Department of Education!
Palin is on a different level right now....and can stay there for as far as I am concerned because she is completely large and in charge and does not have to spend a time right now nor expend any capital on debates.
With Sarah we all know what we get, there is nothing that is not known of her. With everyone else, yeah they not only have to form the planks but past muster.....Palin is not needed right now to throw her tiara into the ring.
Perry didn’t respond well to Santorum, either. I think Mr. Perry is not - at this point - a very good debater. Neither was Mr. Bush. Maybe it’s a Texas thing.
It's called waivers.
Yeah boy! After tonights debate my opinion of Bachmann went way down.
FWIW, of all the candidates on the stage tonight, Perry KEPT the Hispanic vote.
The others who responded all sounded like haters.
If you were to ask me who did the text-book best in the debate tonight, I'd have to say Newt Gingrich. Gingrich is actually very good. Damn his stupidity with women. I also think Hermann Cain really helped himself tonight. And he CLEARLY curried favor with Perry by praising Galveston.
Perry absolutely held his own on social security, and might have gotten the best of it. On Gardasil he was properly repentant. On illegals he was properly stubborn.
On the fence he was right: boots on the ground with high tech and air monitoring with some areas have a fence when it made sense. That clearly was the best answer in terms of effectiveness, AND he properly pointed out that Texas could not do that alone...that the national gov't is constitutionally charged with that responsibility.
Romney wasn't bad and wasn't good. He didn't wow me at all. He was sort of bland, actually.
No, I have a sweet tea but thanks.
I am still chuckling a little though having signed up twelve years ago just to support Perry for President.
Did you know she supported the TARP Bailout?
>> “You had all of your silver amalgamate fillings removed, right?” <<
.
Wrong.
All the big diseases were conquered by our rising economy and the industrial revolution’s advance. Our ‘poor’ live better than the middle class of much of the world. Better food, water, and shelter. Better sanitary systems in the cities accounts for the reduction of the epidemics that had risen in the dark ages.
Both Polio and Smallpox were effectively controlled BEFORE the vaccines were produced. Polio was actually given new life by the Salk vaccine, both in the US, and in the Soviet Union, due to the presence of SV 40 in the vaccine.
Sarah was the Governor of Alaska, Perry was Gov of Texas. Romney was not Governor anywhere during Palin`s Governorship, so why would she speak of Romney in her emails as Gov of Alaska?
I do not follow your logic
Governor Palin as even much of the MSM now concede, was in fact a very hard working governor, so she had no time to be following the adventures of former Governor Romney.
Isn’t that what the primary process is for, vetting candidates. At any rate, the more I hear from Romney, the more I have to say that he could get the nomination, if he has the guts to challenge Obama in a primary for the democrat nomination that is. I have to wonder just what the heck he disagrees with Obama on? Attacking Perry or any Republican candidate from the left reminds me of Bush Sr. attacking Reagan for proposing voodo economics.
One word, Romneycare. Instead of Perry having to defend his “Ponzi Scheme” comment, can we hear from Mr. Romney on why he would ever, ever, ever have supported a socialized medicine plan?
In general opt-outs are considered back marketing devices as they create real backlash due to abuse.
When the government says “this is strongly advised” and it and BIG PHARMA spend oodles pushing the fearsome half-specs (which you repeat) offer something in an opt-out program there is huge element of social compulsion, making the program effectively compulsory to all but a very brave or loony few, the outliers and outlaws.
It’s called bait and wait.
Shut up with your tired crap....go spam someone else.
I must have my definition of conservative confused. Last time I checked Perry was pro God, pro guns, pro life, pro jobs and served his country. Some people act like he’s the anti Christ or something. I just don’t underatnd it.
[A mandate is a tax. Tea Party is about opposing mandates/taxes without representation.]
Truthfully I had not thought about that much, but had I, I would still have concentrated more on the thought of preventing a disease, and I think you would too. Perry did. And - we both know that none of the Perry bashing has been about the cost - at least I havent seen that myself. It is all about Perry MAKING young [innocent...] girls take inoculations because there were side effects in a few. There always are side effects from any inoculations, medicines, etc.
Well neither do the Perry supporters seem to 'get it' that the 'tea party' erupted over mandates/taxation without representation. IF the citizens of the state of Texas are fine with their state government executing mandates/taxes so be it. I for one am opposed to more of the same style of government on the federal level.
I shudder that kids have been so sexualized by the hollywood and political culture that drug companies had the foresight to create a drug to protect them.
It's a problem. You can pretend it isn't, but mandating it rather than suggesting it as an enlightened course of action (which it wasn't), is so far from the right thing to do, it makes my head spin.
It ought to make anyone claiming to be conservative angry as H*ll.......instead, people on this forum are defending him as if it was the right thing to do.
>> “Right now, I’m thinking that Sarah doesn’t deserve the job.” <<
.
But that is what you’ve been saying all along.
Huntsman gets a good point in by pointing out that what has been playing out in America is a human tragedy regarding employment.
Yes, I am in Texas. I opposed HPV vaccine mandate. It was a mistake by Perry. He admitted it. It’s a dead issue from 4 years back.
That being said doesn’t give people the right to distort the facts. Such as the fact that vaccines - including this one- save lives, that Texas has an opt-out so that nobody is ‘forced’ to take the vaccine, etc.
Bachmann and Santorum both made false statements on this topic and it should be corrected.
“So you tell me why would you defend executive order mandates”
Again, I opposed and oppose it.
